Members Joe_KC Posted August 3, 2020 Members Posted August 3, 2020 Hello, I'm a very novice fisherman who will be staying on Lake Taneycomo between Table Rock Dam and Fall Creek next week. I'm reading the regulations on the types of lures that are allowed there for trout (i.e. no soft lures), and I'm a bit overwhelmed. Any basic advice on they type of lures/setup I should use for that area would be appreciated. I just have a basic spincast. Thanks!
Travis Swift Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 marabou jigs are your best bet. you can also throw small spoons legally like a cleo or spin a lure. Jerkbaits both thrown straight and jerked back as well as small ones drug on the bottom with a small Carolina rig work as well. Lastly a #12 scud fly on a drift rig will work great also. But if you just had one bait to use get you some marabou jigs in natural type colors and some with some orange or peach in them and go at it, that is as simple as it gets. 4 pound line will work but you'll get alot more bites with 2 pound . Good luck and send us a report. Terrierman and snagged in outlet 3 2
Ryan Miloshewski Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Travis hit the nail on the head. Jig will get you the most bites and fish. Stop into Lilley's Landing and pick up some jigs from 1/8-ounce to 1/32-ounce. “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
Terrierman Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Countdown Rapala in trout dress works too. When it comes to throwing a spoon, make mine kastmaster chrome and blue with white bucktail. Weight depending on flow. Keep going heavier until you start hanging up and then back off a bit. Second the motion on jig fishing - but will tell you it takes a bit to master the technique. Just keep at it and slow down - again until you start to get bottom. Then lighten up a bit.
