Members kelbrand Posted September 12, 2020 Members Posted September 12, 2020 Just curious how the conditions are at Pomme. I'm a consistent Bolivar Landing launcher. Work, weather, fatigue, another excuse, one more excuse, etc. has kept me from the lake. How's it been? I wasn't able to get out around my last post about the white bass. I probably should change my description of activities and remove the repeated use of fishing . . . as it would be more accurate.
MOPanfisher Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Water level is just a little above normal, and cooling down nicely. I don't have a clue about bass, but if I was crappie fishing I would either head up to the river and lay down or down lake to coves with timber along the creek channels. Also never know this time of year when white bass will attack ya. Shad should be thick.
Ketchup Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 I was out this past monday early. Fishing from Bolivar Landing to Coopers Cove bass fishing. Had a small limit pretty quick. Nothing to brag about, but i was alone, and enjoying the calmness. i will be back tomorrow morning bright and early for a few hours. There were lots of crappie guys out. fishinwrench 1 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Gumboot Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 The local otters always leave a few reminders on the dock that they're around during the week when I'm normally not. Usually the scat is full of fish scales. Friday when I swept it off it was full of crawdad parts. I tied on a 3/4 oz brown craw jig with matching trailer, and caught 18 Saturday morning, all on gravel/chunk rock, 4-10' of water. Several nice keepers. Nothing to write home about, but pretty fun. Water temp 77 with nice color. It was 84 last week. Tons of small bait everywhere. Edit: My boy said it was 19 and he caught 11 on more of an orange craw jig, as I wouldn't give him one of the jigs I was using cause I only had two. It's cutthroat out there when there's a 24 pack of busch light riding on outcome. Not a single wake boat to be seen. Big change from last week, that boat parade was something else. Saw my first, what on LOz would be considered a small cruiser. He came plowing by our dock, cause the no wake buoy is 50 yards past my dock, so no reason to idle even though there are six kids swimming around, then as he came back out he hit the gas just before he got to the buoy, and then it's hang on for your life. Almost made my beer foam.
MOPanfisher Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Right before the holiday weekend there was a wake boat out in front of the dam. Holy crap what a wake. Old timers used to always say when shad are super thick feed them a craw. No shortage of otters around.
Ketchup Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 I was in a cove near Coopers, and watched while fishing as 6 otters played, fought, and made some of the coolest noises. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Members kelbrand Posted September 16, 2020 Author Members Posted September 16, 2020 A couple of weeks ago, out of curiosity (while teaching my son to drive) I had him take me to Bolivar Landing and I was shocked to see ZERO vehicles in the lot.
