Just curious if any of y'all have done any catfishing on Bryant. If so, have you had any success. I see that MDC claims there is a very strong channel cat population in Bryant.  Thanks

I think the James has more

Have seen some catfish when I’ve floated it, plus some limb lines. Have never fished for them there. The water is usually very clear. Almost always catch a catfish or two (on lures) when I float the St. Francis.

All the floatable Ozark streams have SOME channel catfish.  But the ones that are a little more fertile (slightly murky water) should have better populations.  Like Gavin said, the St. Francis is a great catfish river.  Lower Black below Clearwater Dam is good.  Meramec, Big, Bourbeuse are all good.  Gasconade is excellent.  James is good.  I think any of those would be better than Bryant.

I've fished the Bryant more than the James, but I have a lot more bonus channel cat from the James

Sometimes during the summer you will run across pods of them with dozens of fish. Maybe even hundreds. It’s pretty amazing and I have never seen it anywhere else. I need to get a video of it. I got some new underwater videos I’m going to try this summer. I’m going to try to get those catfish.

Thanks for the info guys. @Flysmallie, are the pods of cats you're describing in the Bryant or the James? I'd love to see the underwater footage of that.

In the James.
