oneshot 1 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 I'm thinking on Soil my Soil has Clay which holds Water but I'm thinking adding more Peat Moss which will make it Airy but will require more Water? oneshot
Members Bayliner Posted May 2, 2021 Members Posted May 2, 2021 clay soil turns rock hard in summer but does have its value if you add plenty of organic materials which also hold water. if you have earth worms when you turn a shovel full of soil then its probably good. to keep the soil moist you have to have some kind of mulch on top even if its only cardboard box material BilletHead 1
oneshot Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Got plenty worms and it was easy to work until last year when I got down and was depending on others. Got a Tiller now which makes things easier. oneshot
oneshot Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Ok kind of going back on this. On my Raised Beds I have regular soil. Would I be better off to take my plants out, take part of the soil out and replace it with Peat Moss? I have Tomatoes and Peppers in containers with Pro Mix Potting Soil doing just fine. oneshot
oneshot Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Found something if soil is airy more oxygen gets to the roots which is a good thing. Water is good but not too much. oneshot
