Big Keene
im going to be down next thurs-fri to see about trolling cranks and maybe bottom bouncing a little. Want to try to get my daughter a PB crappie(anything over 12") and her first walleye. my last couple of trips down we have been mid lake or south, nothing north of Hawker. im thinking about fishing out of Orleans Trail this trip, and was just curious if anyone has been fishing the north end at all? Dutch
I have not been below the 215 bridge but I talked to a couple of guys on the ramp at Hawker. They have been trolling for crappie and walleye. With the way the lake is going down they said they have been struggling the last few days. I can understand that. A week ago we caught 33 bass with 9 keepers and yesterday I struggled to get 4 with 0 keepers. Big Keene

Dutch
Yes it has been high. We’ve had a lot of rain. State Park even pulled the courtesy dock at Hartley. It is back now. My information is the 24/7 draw down was for a maintenance issue. They have it about where they want it and are slowing down generation. I am hoping for some stability as I will be back bass fishing on Monday. Big Keene
Smithvillesteve
I fished the north end yesterday. It was brutal. 90 degrees. Sunny. Not a breath of wind. A lot of green mossy looking crap floating around. I bottom bounced for walleyes for about an hour. Nothing. Since it wasnt the ideal walleye conditions i switched to bass. Caught one small LM and one decent smallie on a Robo Worm Desert Craw ned. Plan was to fish from 2 to 7. I left at 5. Lake is like 4 ft high and dropping. Members GRANDPA TATER
I mainly fished mid-lake to the dam the past 3 and a half days. We were finding some walleye bottom bouncing 2 oz bouncers with 5 foot crawler harnesses. Majority of the fish we caught were 14 - 19 foot. We caught crappie trolling on both Bandits and Flicker Shad. It seemed they really preferred something with chrome on either baits. Most of our crappie were 20+ FOW in coves usually related to brush we saw on the electronics. We trolled at around 1.5 mph. We had a 14 incher and 2 others over 13. Good luck I hope this helps. I am certainly no expert but we found a few. The other fish will keep you busy too! Big Keene
