Kyle Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Had a float trip out of NRO campground on Saturday so I figured I could get some fishing in on Friday and Sunday. Friday was probably one of the best days I have had at Bennet in a long time. Didn't matter what I threw they hit it all, best was probably a white mini jig or a black marabou. Fished from about 10:30 untill about 3:15 and caught 30-35 fish all on the fly rod. Sunday, however, was probably one of the toughest days I have ever had there. Fished from about 10:00 to 1:00 and only caught 6. Doing all of the same thing and in the same spots. Even tried everything else and just couldn't talk them into biting, but that is how it goes. All in all a good weekend just to be outside.
fishinwrench Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 How was Sat...did you do any fishing on the river? Wasn't this weekend the annual "Gay float" out of NRO ? Bet that was interesting.
NoLuck Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Kyle, I was there Sunday all day and fishing was tough. I stumbled across the ticket about 3:45pm to catching fish. Rusty copper headed zebra midge size 18. I just was going thru my box trying to get something to work and when I found the rusty midge it was like someone turning on the switch. I had only caught 12 fish up till then and I finished at the whistle with about 45-50 fish. I fished in the shallow rocky water below the bridge. I caught some really nice dark colored fish including one brown close to 2lbs. Its amazing how just one fly can make all the difference in the world. Take care, Rich
patfish Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 I was at BSSP from Thursday til Sunday morning. Thursday evening was good fishing and Friday morning was good catching. Most fish on the "bedspread", nothing huge but good times and lots of fish. Saturday morning... I hate to say it, pressured by my girlfriend, floated the Niangua from BSSP to Ho-Hum. Made two casts broke down the rod, and paddled like no ones business through countless moving canoe dams, some 8-10 canoes wide. Complete insanity. Didn't see the "Gayness" you speak of but did see some exposed girl parts that did not need to be. You know what I mean.

Kyle Posted July 24, 2007 Author Posted July 24, 2007 Wasn't this weekend the annual "Gay float" out of NRO ? Bet that was interesting. Yeah it was. We did not know at the time. We had a fraternity float trip planned since school and didn't know. The individuals there on the gay float were in a totally seperate part of the campground, gated off and everything. No problems with them, but it sounded like they knew how to party. Patfish, sorry to tell you, but that was probably my group that you had to paddle past. Hopefully we didn't cause you too much headache, but you know we are just college kids trying to have a good time. And the exposed girls I saw were not too shabby.
patfish Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 No problem Kyle, hell we probably talked. LOL!!! I didn't run across anyone that was way out of control or rude. Just not the float I like anymore. Keep waking up everyday and it'll happen to you too. Peace brother, and oh yeah, next time you have a party float planned, post it. Just kidding, hope y'all had a good time and everyone got home safe. Almost any girl parts you see when you're in college are "not too shabby".
Randall Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 didn't you tell me Wisdom was the one who planned that trip... i think i'd give him a little trouble about that if I was you. Cute animals taste better.
fishinwrench Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Glad y'all had a good time and didn't get the "Dallas county shakedown" brought upon you. Not all partyers are causing trouble....So see guys, some of them even are fishermen that happen to be doing something else that particular day. It's sad that there are cranky old fishin' cermudgeons that think that everyone on the river without waders and a rod in their hand, are up to no good and should be subject to immediate arrest. Be kind to the river, polite to others, and remember that it is YOUR river too.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark
