Quillback Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 Launched somewhere around 0800-0830, and fished until 1:30 PM. It was really slow to begin, the first 4 hours I fished I had one keeper sized smallie and one missed bite. Bumped into a few in the last 45 minutes and boated another keeper smallie and a couple of doinkers. All came on a Ned rig. I did try the Rock Crawler, jerk bait, and Keitech, but no bites on that stuff. The fish I caught were anywhere from 10-20 feet down dragging the Ned on the bottom. Ran into forum member Mark on the lake, he was having a tough day as far as catching, and as I was leaving, he was bringing in reinforcements - one of his buddies showed up at the ramp to jump in his boat and fish with him. Hopefully they got into them. WT was 46-48 (warmer than I thought it would be). Drug up some green stuff that I believe is hydrilla. It is not thick anywhere, but it seems to be spreading. The two keepers: BilletHead, waterpossum, Lance34 and 4 others 7
Johnsfolly Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 Tough day Jeff. Those are a couple of nice smallies! Quillback 1

Carl W Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Launched at Prairie Creek at 1 and fished to 5. We only had one keeper. 15 inch large. Quillback 1
rps Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 I love the fact that Beaver, and to a certain extent, TR, are becoming smallmouth lakes. Quillback 1
MarkG52 Posted February 1, 2022 Posted February 1, 2022 Well me and my buddy skunked. It was awesome to meet Jeff out on the water.! That part of the lake is like a whole different world compared to the areas we normally fish, i.e., Prairie and Hickory. I marked a whole bunch of spots for future trips. Beautiful, clear water. Very quiet and peaceful. I pulled up that same grass in a spot way away from where Jeff told me he pulled some up. It could be becoming invasive on that end. I think some sort of vegetation in Beaver might be beneficial. Quillback 1
shark bait Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 Milfoil or fanwart possibly on the grass. I've noticed it as well. I've been here 20 years and not seen it before. Becky B
