fishinwrench Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 It doesn't take "ethanol' to degrade those fuel hoses with liners in them. The liner goes to crap regardless. That hose is junk no matter what you are pumping though it. It was an EPA mandate that has absolutely no merit at all. Refuse to buy it, and eventually it will go away.

They clamp a lot tighter and won't bite into the hose like a worm drive can. But they work just fine on the suction side of a fuel system, even a snugged up zip tie serves that purpose just fine, many outboards left the factory that way. Fun fact, there are zip ties specifically made for clamping hoses. I read that while googling, and it said worm clamps can work loose. I would like to know how to get the original clamps off.

I would like to know how to get the original clamps off. The only place I really don't like to use worm drives is cooling systems. They don't work well with constant heat/cool cycles. There's a few tricks to getting the old clamps off. Easy way is a cutting disc on a grinder, quick slice and you got it. Otherwise, best way I've found is to pry up the "tail", grab it with pliers and twist it off of the hooks that hold it. -Austin
TableRockBoater Posted June 1, 2022 Author Posted June 1, 2022 New bulb, new fuel lines, and appropriate clamps, $40-ish. I'm going down to put it on, and go spizz Marge the Party Barge. - - - - - It works just fine. MrGiggles 1
