kjackson Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 I don't want to step on Ham's excellent flyfishing pix thread by adding another shot of the colorful rock greenling that is in my avatar, so I thought I'd do this instead. Ham had a shot of a greenling he caught in BC, and I added the image of the rock greenling I caught 10 years or so ago on the back side of Kodiak Island. That fish is the most colorful and varied fish I've ever caught. Unfortunately, the light wasn't the best, so the blue lips and mouth don't show up as they did IRL. This trip really stands out because of the variety of weird fish we caught. Phil Lilley, FishnDave, BilletHead and 3 others 6
kjackson Posted August 8, 2023 Author Posted August 8, 2023 The last image is not a cabezon--I think--but is another of the scorpion family of fishes. I caught several other weird-to-me fishes that I didn't bother to shoot--one had blue eyes. It wasn't a great trip as far as fillets go, because the weather was crap, and we had to stay inside the island, which probably is why we did catch so many weird fish. We did see a herd or colony or whatever of sea otters--probably over 100 grouped up in the inside waters, saw a black bear, a rarity in grizzly/brown bear country and did a short tour of the island. Quillback Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 I've caught some kelp greenling but never one of those rock varieties. Very colorful. kjackson and BilletHead 2
