Thinking about the dark side,  maybe a low res ffs unit to see what is in front of my boat instead of under, in back, out the sides.

Has anyone tried the new entry level Lowrance Eagle Eye 9" unit with FFS Sonar??

Well I was the guinea pig.  Bought one in March, mounted it as a portable at first to try out.  First trip out, had to reduce brightness to 60 percent to get it to work.

Next trip out, it worked on friends boat.  But we were in shallow water and did not try it for more than a few minutes on my portable setup.

Mounted it semi permanent to the bass boat and took to Wappappello for a short trip.  Back to the 60 percent brightness thing, irratic depth readings.  Gave up and decided to try a later day.

Wet spring, hot summer and lots of other things.  My boats stayed in dry dock until 2 weeks ago until I went thru one to get ready for my Oct Truman Lake Trip.  Mounted and fired it up.  Went flaky and finally died all together.  The lakes I really wanted to see if it would work on, deep and timber, will not be tested.  Lowrance and the crappy warranty service of foreign helpers will probably waste another month.  Maybe I will get to spotlight fish next year.
