Quillback Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Hit the water early with Mr. Dutch this morning, we hung in there until about 11 AM. A little cloudy with a little bit of a breeze made for decent fishing conditions for this time of year. Good bite early, we caught several, mostly smallmouth, on the c-rigged craw. Got a bit slow after an hour or so and we picked some up fishing the banks with jigs, most fish were not right on the bank but out in 10-20 FOW. We caught 14 bass total, Dutch had a couple of keeper sized smallies and I caught a 3.5 largemouth on a jig. That bass came right before we left, things had gotten really slow and I picked that one up, (surprise!). It had a similar sized buddy that followed it to the boat. We did see a good amount of striper topwater activity early in one location. WT 86 Daryk Campbell Sr, Lance34, AR Huzgr and 3 others 6
Dutch Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Those clouds really helped stay reasonably comfortable. I didn’t even have use my neck fan. I didn’t hold up my end but what I caught were decent smallies. That end of the lake with the clear water is beautiful. Thanks for the invite. snagged in outlet 3 and Quillback 2
Members breeves2245 Posted July 9 Members Posted July 9 Thanks for the report. I'm anxious to get out there. My new truck camper / jon boat combo setup is almost ready. Figured I'd hit one of the state parks around Indian Creek for a couple of days and hit'em early and late. That daytime high temp has me a bit hesitant though.

I haven't camped in years, but I was always a cold weather camper, makes having a fire a lot more fun. I'll send you a PM as to where the top water striper bite was going on Monday. No guarantees they'll be there again, but it is a starting point.
