Rusty Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I like reading all this , so I can prove to myself that the world isnt really a perfect place.I dont get along with all the folks I come in contact to but I put up with them out of respect for my fellow man.Bye the way crappie anglers never argue. hahahah...The reason they don't argue is because they don't talk amongst themselves. They keep their crappie spots a secret.
Thom Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I have a badly damaged prop in my garage now from trying to be to accomadating to a fellow who had waded to the edge of the channel in the restricted area and then was fishing into the 2 to 3 foot water. I tried to go behind him and got into the gravel. I dedided then that in the future I would just say to the wader sorry but it is too shallow to go around behind you. I have had a couple of guys give me dirty looks but you know the guy fishing in the channel from the edge didn't offer to repair my prop either. I know that this is a little different situation but a little common sense and courtesy goes a long way. My goodness it is a large stretch of water to fight over a small spot and so easy to be courteous and respectful all in the name of good sportsmanship. It is also a good idea to PM someone if you have a problem with them. I have done this many times in the past and found that they were very happy to reply back and resolve the disagreement in a civil manner. Actually met a couple of the guys later and had a very cordial and enjoyable conversation. Thom Harvengt
Rusty Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 If a guide comes to a forum and talks about business ethics and self promotion of his business, especially since he stated he was leaving the forum, he should at least be able to take the good/bad comments that follow. That's the way I look at it, I could be wrong though.
am4mu Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I can not reply to BMAN because I was not there. But I do feel compelled to relate my experiences with Jeremy Hunt. This spring I was satying at Lilley's and went to a fly tying class that Jeremy was putting on(I am a complete novice to flyfishing). Since then Jeremy has helped me set up all of my fly tying station and helped me get going. This September I went on my first flyfishing trip ever and I went with Jeremy. The parking lot was full at outlet 2 and as we approached the water we noticed that it was wall to wall from the cable down to Rebar. Jeremy told me that he really wanted to get me on the bank between outlet 2 and 3 but since it was occupied that we would try to hit it later. This early in the trip he started explaining stream ethics to me and explained why we would come back later. He took me down just above the big hole because it was open and he wanted some room to instruct me since this was my first time fly fishing. On the way down he was teaching me entymology and ethics. We came to the spot he wanted to fish(wide open) and he proceded to teach me the basics of casting. Then we started fishing and he put me on fish(with nobody around). We tried to go back up to the spot he wanted to put me on between the outlets but it was still being fished so he moved me upstream a little bit and put me on fish again. Now I did not land them all but that certainly was not Jeremy's fault. All in all a great learning experience. My point is this, I have met nothing but good people on this forum. A lot of people have answered a lot of what were probably stupid questions shortly after I joined this forum. Since I have joined I have made numerous aquaintences and all have been positive. For example, I bought a pair of boots from aeronikl. I picked these up when he was in my area and he was generous enough to discuss flyfishing with me for over an hour. What an education! I had some dealings recently with crippled caddis, What a class act. And so it goes. The people on this forum are all class individuals. Are we all human and do we make mistakes. Yes. Just please remember that when you point a finger at someone that the other fingers are pointing back at yourself. Greg Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 This thread jogged my memory about a funny thing that happened to me this spring. I was fishing (wading) down by the old boat ramp on taney. A boat fisherman (NOT a guide) motored by right in front of me (too close IMHO). I had a momentary flash of anger but bit my tongue and as soon as he was by I made a somewhat sloppy cast right into the area the boat had passed. On that first cast I immediately hooked up with a 20+ inch rainbow. Kind of an unintended "prop shuffle" or blind luck? I don't know. But my point is even though a boat invading your space can be a little frustrating - I'm just not sure it bothers the fish that much at all. Jeremy Hunt Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Rusty, did you read what Dano said. Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
patfish Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I think that after the above post by am4mu, this is a perfect time to.... go on to something else....
Rusty Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Rusty, did you read what Dano said. I did. But I also read the other two before your last comment. Which is it going to be? Only the good comments are allowed? What I stated was not intended to be bad, just an honest statement after reading your comments.

Micheal Kyle Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I have to agree lets move on. I think that Mr Hunt does a fine job on the water, he treats people like he wants to be treated himself. He is also not only a fisherman but also an educator out on the water and hats off to him for doing a great job. I would also like to add that I think that this forum is highly educational and I realize I own a shop but that does not mean that I know everything. I too have learned quite a few things on this forum . So at this point in time I would like to thank everyone that contributes to this forum. We are the reason that this forum is one of the best all around forums out there. I truly believe that the reason for this is it just does not limit what we are able to talk about if you use power bait, hard baits, or you just fly fish you are welcome to post on this site, and sometimes we can even vent. Lets keep it that way. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
