Wiggle Warts

I have been reading alot of old reports on Tablerock recently and I am wandering why there is so many referencing Wiggle Warts by name? Nine out of ten overwhelmingly pushing Wiggle Warts. I use them too, but I have equal success with cranks from Rebel, Bomber, Heddon, Bagley and Rapala Brands as well.

Is everyone sponsored by the product? What gives?

Trav, it is just a hot bait on the lake right now. It has a very wide wobble to it and really act's and looks like a crawfish, also they have some very nice colors that really do look like the crawfish in green and brown and match the hatch size very well. Other do work but, talk to the tournament guys and they throw nothing but these little guys on this lake. That really makes the wiggle wart the primary bait of choice they catch fish and alot bigger ones too from time to time. No sponsorships here!! I wish!

I realize the particulars of the wiggle wart,I have my uses as well, but not to the extent that its the best game in town. Fad or not it still amazes me how much it is mentioned in reports. Its almost as repetitive as the "Hiney Wine" commercials on "the Fishing Radio Show". Haha

Ah the wiggle wart, now is that the old style,the old new style or the new old style wiggle wart? I have some of each and really feel the "original" baits work better. I have a box of em that only come out during tournaments or when my buddy is giving me a lesson. there is just something about em.

A wiggle wart is not like any other crainkbaits. I don't care what anyone thinks, you will never change my mind. The older warts did seem to work a lot better. But the best is the flat wart. The only problem with them is sometimes you'll get one that needs a lot of constant tuning to make it run straight or any other direction you want it to go. But when you find one that works, wow. I love flat warts!!!

My comment would be, "Don't mess with success." Certain lures work best on certain lakes, and the Wiggle Wart is a proven winner over decades of use on all the White River Lakes — Beaver, Table Rock, Bull Shoals and Norfork.

Amen to that,if it works dont fix it, Read somewhere that David Fritts sometimes goes through 50 or 60 of the same crankbait to get one that works what he thinks is rightso if ya got a good un keep the plug knocker handy

Warts, warts, warts, some people want to freeze them off and others of us like to use them when its freezing.

46 to 56 degree water temps make this wide wobble craydaddy imitator, numero ohno for caloricly deprived bass in search of a fresh water lobster dinner.

From what I understand the best selling hard boddied crayfish imitator on the market.

This bait is deadly as the water warms in the spring or cools in the fall. 4 to 12 ft. seem to be its best menu range. 8 to 12 pound string to pull it.

Did fish with an old friend passed on now to the big lake in the sky, but he fished the old classic No 38 on 6 lb. test and fished it thru the tree tops at depths of 12 to 20, with fantastic success. I cannot hardly ever remember him hanging it up. He would throw it right in a cedar and it would just bounce like crazy off the limbs. I know the bait didn't get 20 ft. deep, but the bass in the tree tops would come up for it. Lots of eratic reeling and stops and starts.

It's wobble is just not duplicated on the plethera of other baits on the market and its crazy hops and dives after striking wood or any other hidey hole, are irresistable to hungry bass.

Even though we use them on the white river chain with reckless abandon, they are also used as the primary crank bait on Lake O, Truman, and the majority of south central lakes. They are also extremely popular in Texas.

Other cranks that are extremely popular here are the DD22 and the Fat Free Shad. They are fished a bit deeper and usually at a different season than the wart.

For the last month, here if you didn't have one on the terminal end of your tackle you probably didn't cash a check. They have been producing huge bags of fish for at least the last 5 weeks.

They are a dandy little tool, and are the only real crank bait I throw.

Did fish today with the Beckster. Caught some deep 50 to 67 and had lots make a run at the spoon and turn away. Thru the wart some, but it got really bright from 10 to 1 and that pretty much killed the wart. It was to late to run back to the deep ones, so we called it a day with 9 fish.

Your really preaching to the chior, I buy 30 plus Warts a year. I was just commenting on the fact that from what I have read in lake reports, you would think there is nothing else that works. I acknowledge the fact that people use what works.

Mr Frits has a point as well, I have about 8 of the old style hellbenders that I have repainted at least a half a dozen times because they work so well.

When I feel the need for a workout I will throw a Manns 20 plus instead of the wart. For me it catches bigger fish. No dispute here on the wart , they are fish catching baits. Be prepared though the 20 plus is a man killer, sorry for the pun, but will keep you warm on those cold days.
