Dave Cook Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Love it the way it is. When I'm away from home, I can use a public computer and sign in as a guest and keep up with the OAF. I don't sign into anything on a public or shared computer. Dave Cook Missouri Trout Fishermen's Association - Kansas City
Terry Beeson Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Allowing guest posts does open the door for a lot of things... some positive, but mostly negative. I would require a membership with email to post a reply. Lurkers should be able to do just that... lurk. It's not like anything we say on here is all that secret or anything. I'm curious about anyone (other than the one person) who claims to have been denied membership to this forum (other than spammers.) I just don't see Phil or the other admins taking any action like that with a legitimate poster. Just think... I'm still on here... Phil, I vote to keep things like they are. duckydoty Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I think your doing a fine job Phil. Some forums are very clickish and one in particular use to have a lot of "mean" people harrasing non-click members. Well, you know what they say about mean people----. I never really became involved in that forum for that reason. duckydoty A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners

Danoinark Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Duane is correct in that many of the fishing forums I have been a member or still frequent are cliquish and some are getting that way more and more. To me its a big turnoff and I think for others it is too. You don't find that on OAF. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Danimal Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 This is the best fishing site anywhere--don't change anything.Dan-o RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
Rolan Duffield Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I agree with hdfhoosier --- "I like it the way it is" and thanks for your great efforts "Phil" for making this site possible for us. I'm a member that scans this site often, though I don't always log on. If I feel I can add support to a question, then I'll sign on and respond. You're always looking to improve the site and communications while keeping it family friendly. We appreciate that. Best regards, Rolan
Greg Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I don't think you need to change anything. I don't think the membership would have grown to where it is now if you had made it so that guests could not see the posts. Nor would OAF continue to grow as it has been doing. I belong to and participate on several of these sites but I think OAF is the best run and in general the best board that I have run across. That's a credit to the owner, moderator and the participants. There is one very popular Fly fishing site where the owner/moderator runs the thing like a dictator. And another where the particpants just kind of run wild. We seem to have a happy medium here. jjtroutbum Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Yes Sir mighty fine sight and forum you have created here for all of our enjoyment and for that I thank you. Change it I would not. Other forums that I have signed up for are OK, but not like this one to there detriment in one way or another some I think are to big others to small. The worst thing is a required sign up only to be disappointed by the utter lack of content. Not an issue either way for this one though. Thanks again for all that you do!
