This guy is having a hard time accessing my sites and I don't know what to tell him... does anyone have any ideas?

Since we last talked I've got rid of McAffee (anti-virus program) and did a complete re-install of windows.(also replaced the hard drive) figuring there was some kind of conflict. I'm still unable to access the site, I have no problem with any other sites other than ozarkanglers and lilleys landing.I've accessed them some time ago but not recently. Could there be a speacial browser setting? I've tried with both firefox and IE. I also re-installed firefox. I'd really appreciate any help as I don't know what else to try.

Wouldn't know how to do that... esp on my resort site too. Only common thing is that they are on the same server.

I can't ban anyone from LilleysLanding.Com, nor can I ban an IP from any of my sites. He can't even see either one, not register.

He probably needs to start with the basics. Can he ping and/or tracert Ozarkanglers.com?

To try click Start, Run, type CMD... then type ping ozarkanglers.com and or tracert ozarkanglers.com at the command prompt.

The results will tell if he can send and recieve packets to the server as well if he is being given the proper address from his DNS server. The results determine the next step in troubleshooting.

If that fails, he should check the contents of the hosts file located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc to make sure there is not a static entry for ozarkanglers.com or that he is getting routed through a proxy, under normal circuimstances it sould be empty except for commets (prefaced with #) and the entry 127.0.0.1 localhost.

It would'nt hurt to also download and Spybot search and Destory and do a scan for malware....

When he says he can't "access" the site, does he mean he can't login or the website does not load at all?

Something may be blocking your IP address on his computer like a new firewall. Does the website require Java? Is he typing the address in right? Try to have him google Ozarkanglers and enter from the link off google.

This is the error message he gets when trying to get to either site.

----- Original Message ----- The connection has timed out

The server at lilleyslanding.com is taking too long to respond.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few

moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network

connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure

that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

He probably needs to investigate the firewall part. Follow directions that Capt E posted. Turn off any firewall.

Although, I can't figure out a reason why it would block your site unless he triggered it.

Open a command prompt , then type

tracert 226.219.95.18 (the public IP for www.lilleyslanding.com and www.ozarkanglers.com)

This will possible show where the bottleneck is (an internal or external address where it either gets stuck or has a very long response time)

Many firewalls out there have their own content filtering without having to even touch the server on the network. It can be drilled down very tightly. It could also be a DNS problem.

He/She can also put the aforementioned IP address in the address bar of their browser and see if it goes to the BIMS website, if it does, then that means a likely DNS issue, which could be taking place directly on his computer or the DNS server it is working from (DNS Domain Name Resolution, that tells the computer which IP address to go to when you enter a name such as www.website.com)

Another quick thing to try would be to clear your internet history. I have people all the time who cannot access a specific site (due to all kinds of errors) but then it works after clearing history (one bad connection attempt that gets cached and needs to be cleaned out).

This also depends, can he access www.ozarkanglers.com and just gets blocked when trying to access www.ozarkanglers.com/forums?

I hope this helps...but if not I would be glad to answer any further questions
