Members bassfisher2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Members Posted December 4, 2017 New to the area. Just moved here from the Carolinas. Looking at fishing Stockton this weekend, have heard good things. Not familiar with the Midwest so can anyone give me some clue as to what will work to catch the largemouth? I hear there is a thing called spots? Also, I have a new tracker 195 TXW, have heard wind is an issue on this lake. Forecast is saying 10-12 mph from the north. Will that be hard to navigate or is that a pretty light wind for this lake? Any and all help is great. Thanks
wtr dogs Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Welcome to the area. The weather forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday would keep me near the fireplace. Checking out the posts and articles on this board would be helpful and certainly warmer. Again welcome,, Ron Home of the the dam of 2009 AKC National Debry Champion.--AMMOAMMO
Dutch Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 If the wind is going to be N then the Little Sac arm will be calmer then the Big Sac. If it is NW it will roll right down the Little Sac. If I were going I would go either to Rouark Bluff or Cedar Ridge depending on the wind direction. By Saturday the fish might be hard to find with all the weather changes in store. Personally I am going to see what next week brings. Bass Yakker 1
Members jamesedward Posted December 4, 2017 Members Posted December 4, 2017 I left heaven there on Stockton, pomm and Lake ozarks for the big world of Atlanta Ga. there are spots on all the lakes just not the 5-8 lb spots that are in lake Lanier by Atlanta. Go to the little sac arm and throw a spinner bait, jerk bait, wiggle wort or the Alabama rig on any mail Lake point. You should have a lot of fun. There is some large mouth in the 8-10 lb range but 1,000’s of 2-5 lb large mouth. You won’t catch a small mouth most likely up there but seldom they are that far up. 10-12 mph isn’t bad. You will find plenty of places to get out of the wind. Put in at Muttun, go out and turn left, go under the bridge and go 1/4 mile then take a gradual left. Go until you go under the power lines. STOP, go left till you hit the 45 degree bank. Thank me later...... Basschomper and Clark Creighton 2

zarraspook Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 This is from "hot spots" maps... bass pro and others have these and they will have "most" of the data you are looking for.... "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
Members ewlech Posted December 5, 2017 Members Posted December 5, 2017 Jamesedward- I left Atlanta for the Ozarks. Use to live in Gainesville and Cumming for 7 years (drove to Lawrencville GA to work). Fished Lake Lanier 3-4 times a week for the 7 years. Caught many 5-6 pound spots out of there throwing a super spook over 90 feet of water when the spots and stripers were chasing Blueback Herring. Had a 26 pound 5 fish limits of all spots during one tournament. I will take Stockton lake over Lanier any day of the week. Lanier will give Lake of the Ozark a run for its money with ocean going vessels and pleasure boats.

Are there any other community holes out there worth trying?
