Didn't think that was you but my eyesight isn't the best right now. We went past High Point but water was nasty looking and lots of fish on graph but no biters.
-
Dutch was that you down by the water intake?
-
Dutch we went to the south ramp at Cedar yesterday. We had 2 crappie a short black and another short white. Water was colder than I was expecting. If all the fish I graphed where I caught the white were whites there is going to be some good fishing before long. The 4 we caught come off the bottom in 30' and on minnows. Couldn't get bit on anything else.

I went to Battery Outfitters way out on South Campbell. Got one of their Pro Series for a start battery and went with the Trojan brand for my trolling motor. All are sealed. So far so good but only had them since back in the spring. I run the trolling motor hard Sat. and it still had plenty of go at the end of the day. I believe I could have run them another day if I had to. 1800 Lund with a Terrova 80 I can't remember exactly what I paid but it was around $200 each plus tax.

We were down around Ruark and only had 2 crappie and one of those was short. Both caught off the bottom in 35' of water on a minnow couldn't get anything to hit a jig. No walleye at all thought sure we would find some. I could just make out the t/m head, still pretty dingy. Best part was getting out!! Temp run 38* to 41*. We saw the shad scattered as well.

Had mine for several years but I don't remember having to pay anything for it. Sure got my use out of it, it allowed me and the wife to get into Yellowstone, Pike's Peak, Grand Canyon at no charge. Now if it will get me on the water without having to buy a annual day use permit that's like icing on the cake. Any Federal Park (or reservation as they call it) no charge!!

I have had one for years. I get the yearly ramp pass for half price due to my disability. Was $15 a year. But you say with the Golden Age card it should be free??

We're usually going to BS by now and wanting to get on the water pretty bad but looks like will have to wait for awhile. I know there has to be some walleye somewhere looking for me. Trips this summer have been few and far in between with all the motor trouble I've had and now that everything seems to be fixed too much water.

We went up there yesterday too. Upper lake is some nasty looking stuff. Just about as muddy as I've seen it. Aldrich you can load off the road, upper parking lot is ok. Didn't go down towards the dam but looks like it's is more clear from the pics. Hwy 123 out of Willard has water over the road and you have to jog around on a couple of farm roads to get around it. Went back on 215 to hwy 13 and headed down to Taney and BS. Lots of water but not nearly as much as earlier this year and the water has good color to it. You'll have to load off the road at Beaver Creek and park on the grass or mud as it may be.

Thanks the dock is important we're getting to old to climb over the side of the lund anymore. Another thought on the battery's. I also installed a new onboard charger this summer only puts out 6 amps per battery smaller than a lot of the boat chargers. Batterys don't like heat and I also make sure the doors to the battery compartments are always open when charging. Every one have a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year Gary Smith

I bit the bullet and dropped a little over $200 (per battery) for the sealed battery's last winter. They along with my new Terrova trolling motor get along fine and I've never run out of battery. That's about a 5 to 6 hr day, that's about all I can handle anymore. I hope I can get at least 4 to 5 yrs out of them. So you all are saying that dark line above the water is dead Zebra shells?? Just hard to believe so many. Is the Beaver Creek Ramp still under water?
-
sure wish I could get out. Too wet now too hot. Is the water pretty nasty. The last time we were up the Little Sac looked like a cesspool coming in.
-
It's still up. Brush piles were in 23' of water and they were laying right on the top. Either minnows or jigs tipped with a minnow. We were over by Masters Campground. Wilson it's that way here too, wife is not happy about the price of a new trolling motor.

Hadn't been for a while and needed to get out. First 2 places we went to all ready had a boat sitting on the brushpile next one was empty and the crappie were sitting right down on the top of the pile. Naturally my wireless trolling motor crapped out about 5 minutes after we got there. Tried putting the anchor out but with the wind didn't work too well. Ralph caught 4 crappie pretty quick then was hung up a couple of times and I figure they moved to another brush pile in the area. Never did find them again but we got on a bunch of drum in the afternoon so after Ralph pulled the 4th one in we decided to give it up. Now I've got to find a new trolling motor. The one I've got is a wireless Motor Guide. An old one I bought used to see how they worked. I've had 2 hip repl. and this type of motor sure makes my day an easier one. I'd like to stay with the wireless and not the cable type. So are there any good wireless units out there that you don't have to hock the north 80 to buy?? If anyone can give me a heads up I'd appreciate it. Thanks Gary

The white drum in the rivers are good. For some reason the ones in the lakes not so much. The black drum are like trying to chew on a piece of old inner tube. Some of that Cajun mix can probably cover up the taste of about anything !

Never got to meet Jim but really liked to read his posts. Know his family and friends are going to miss him big time. Prayers for him and his family and friends.

We live on the Pomme just inside the Greene County line( about a mile from Webster County) . The water is moving up into our bottom fields and the road, here at the house. So you will be getting more water. Hope your other creeks are starting to fall. As far up the head waters as we are it usually doesn't stay up long here.

Didn't know. I've always heard there were no gar in Stockton but there is and we could have sworn we saw a spoonbill roll the other day but might have been a big blue.
-
The first one he hooked was a dandy,. It was a big soft shell. Would have made a meal for several. We use to eat them on the river off the trot line but haven't for a long time. Do any of you have any idea how the crappie spawn went? We are thinking that at least some of them spawned out in deeper water this year. The last crappie we caught only had a little bit of eggs left in their sacs. Also are there spoonbill in Stockton?

Put in at Ruark again. Not many there and the campgrounds were pretty much empty too. Water looked good and was running 69* when we started out and was 70* when we left. Crappie weren't bunched as much this trip and keepers were hard to come by. Brought 8 home, had "a lot" of shorts running around 9" to 9-1/2". Couple of short walleye and 1 channel that was wormy. Caught a lot of short bass but had one that was 15" and a few whites. So we got to catch fish just hard to find keepers. Started out in 25' of water pretty much on bottom and ended up in about 12' of water still on the bottom but were scattered out. Again mostly on minnows crappie did not seem to want jig, tubes etc even with minnows on them but the bass would. My fishing partner had another world record walleye hooked and same as last trip when we he finally got it to the boat he had hooked a turtle by the back foot. that's 2 trips in a row he's done that.

well that sure looks like it except for the 3 bands where it starts to change colors. So I'm good with it. Thanks for the pic!

Fishing was tougher today for us. Managed 10 keeper crappie and 1 large perch or Bluegill for PD. 8 of the crappie still had eggs and a couple were getting that "coffee grounds" look to them. Also caught several small blacks a couple of short smallmouth. 3 walleye biggest running 14 1/2". Keepers have been hard to find lately. Almost all on minnows again on the bottom in mostly 25' of water. Did get a couple of crappie early at 15'. Wind made it hard to hold early but got better as the day went. MDC come by with their survey. Ask we if thought they should lower the spot length limit and Ralph told them 10" would be about right. Hardly ever keep one so doesn't make much difference to us. Personally I don't like them but the wife wants one about once a year. Not many there this trip but met several boats coming toward the lake when we left out about 5pm. Dutch there was getting to be quite a bit of moss in one cove floating around and it was always on your line. No snakes this trip

Could have been, will just have to say it was different and something new to see.
-
Those strollers are a good looking bait but I can't get bit on them. Glad you got them to work I think we're heading back up maybe tuesday, monday is looking kinda hot for me.

I've looked at a lot of snake pics and haven't seen anything marked up like this one. The 3 bands on it is what is setting it apart
