  1. 5 hrs + or -, 2-3 to swinging
  2. Just got a Catahoula/heeler cross, once he gets his obedience basics figured out he will hopefully be my water buddy.
  3. Sow bugs Sow bugs Sow bugs. Libby is ok, but very limited in space. Swinging bridge (winkley shoal) has a lot of area to get away from people, jfk can be very good, and although it will be too early for the fun cow shoals can be productive but you need to walk to find fish. LRR is a sow bug fishery, and mostly in 14-16 from my experience. Swinging wet flies has become one of my favorite ways to fish there when fish start midging. Have fun!
  4. Impressive fish man, CONGRATS!
  5. Freakin' Pretty baits, maybe if i could escape I could see if you can catch on them.....
  6. That sir is a stud fish
  7. just get u some cheap weedless arkie stand up jig heads at your local Walmart Suuuupercenter, and go get you some........
  8. Got to do my annual trip down to Heber last week and had a great time. Stayed at Red River Adventures right at Swinging Bridge. Great little cabins at the best location on the river (aside from the crowds). Water caught me by 11 or 12 everyday but it was stupid hot enough that it worked out. Did a little night/EARLY morning fishing at around 4 a.m. the last two mornings once water fell out. Caught 1 solid 14-15" brown the first night with a really good fish coming unbuttoned just before it. The second morning I picked up a couple 12-13" stocker 'bows all on a slumpbuster. Got the opportunity to fish with Pat Pickett on Friday and had a GREAT time. Excellent guide who knows his stuff and taught me how effective a Zig Jig can be on those fish. Learned a lot and truly enjoyed the opportunity. I would certainly recommend him to anyone looking to catch some jig fish in the area. My wife ended the day with a nice lil brown, her first ever! Picked up a handful of last years brown trout and plenty of stockers in the daylight every morning doing everything from swinging Red Asses to drifting sow bugs and midges. Great little break from work, hopefully I can do it again in late Nov or early Dec and get more low water.

  10. The Alaska Chronicles is a good read for anyone looking for light entertainment, probably the only book of its format to give Gierach a run for his money IMO.
  11. Absolutely, I love local history. Some good suggestions, gonna get a used book order through Amazon this week. Keep shooting suggestions and thanks all.
  12. I own and have read all of Gierach with the exception of his newest and a couple of his "tactics" books. I like him, that style suits my short time frames I have to read with 2 kids a wife and something resembling a job to work around . Will check out Jim Thompson.
  13. I am looking for some new book suggestions. Preferably outdoors/fishing subjects but if you have a suggestion on a different genre, let's hear it.
  14. Impressive!
  15. Crazy year on it for sure
  16. If its just a fun family float grab a ML spin 6lb fluoro a couple bags of plastics and a handful of 1/8 oz heads. Its creek fishing hou are over thinking it.
  17. Sweet man have a good time.
  18. This is river sittin smallmouth catching weather.
  19. Is there a reason you chose Elk? There are 3 better float/fish streams basically in Pineville.
  20. He isnt exaggerating, you literally could not realistically fish that section on a Saturday. if u really want to fish check out a couple of very close rivers, much better for everything imo......
  21. How else is one to get through the work day?
  22. Shhhhh, flat creek sucks!

    Snake.

I frickin' hate snakes, but have to say since spring I have seen very few. Did blindly grab one while digging in a clogged baler, I nearly lost it, yuck.
