Its been a while since I posted any of my fishing, so I will bore you with todays trip. I worked 20 hours from yesterday morning through this morning, so instead of sleeping when I got done I hooked up to the boat and headed south. I got to the put in and launched the boat just as it was starting to lighten up slightly. I slowly made my way to where I wanted to be and proceeded to fish. I caught a pile, mostly stockers with a few in the 14-15 inch range on everything from eggs to midges of all colors to sowbugs Then I caught a rare fish, a big rainbow out of the ugly step child of the white river chain. It was 21 inches (broke the 20" mark on my rod by enough to know it was at least that) nearly took all my fly line on its first run. 6x because im not a pussy

Looking at the projections, they should be running a half unit all night. Would it be safe to fish from my boat at night with that water? Its a big boat, not worried about tipping or falling in. I am comfortable fishing still water from a boat at night but have never fished a river from a boat at night. Thanks for any input.

Dont be afraid to use an indicator. Not saying anything negative about those who don't, but it has become "cool" to not use one. If you aren't excellent, you will catch more with an indicator. I am halfway decent at best, and I fish an indicator. They are popular for a reason (they work). I would love to learn to fish better without them, but I enjoy catching fish to much. Bobbers rock imo.

Sooooooo......... I went fishing today. Put in at Houseman around 730 in blanket fog. Idled my way up a ways, started fishing below Spider Creek. Picked up a few here and there until the fog broke, and it was ON!!!! #16 UV olive sowbug was the ticket, followed by rusty midge, red midge, a few other colors in sizes 14-20. The smaller the more bites, the bigger had a couple quality fish. Caught a ton of fish, had a blast with my 3 legged buddy. Quit around 3. Btw, last 2 pics. Rainbow (i think) or oddly colored baby brown?

The ozarks are a gem, but if you are going after big smallmouth, the ozarks could never grow what the great lakes, east coast, and Idaho can. If they could, you would see the OCCASIONAL monster smalljaw, even in the hardest hit sections of our rivers. Those areas are destinations for a reason.

You'd argue? I believe it, but I'll keep catching quality little ol' neosho sm, where I almost never see another soul. Ill also be smiling while I kill quality deer in a no-reg area. Ill also fish with chief, with a smile on, Im that crazy. Can you say that you'd do any of that?
