  1. That dog will hunt.
  2. I know it’s in Texas, but he never says that. His story implies it’s local. He has no knowledge of what he is writing about. I guess anyone can be a columnist nowadays.
  3. It’s so over the top. Never been 2,350 boats in a tournament around here. I understand where he is coming from to a small degree. There are always going to be rude boaters. It’s not just a few fishermen. It’s a few pontooners, wake boaters, jet skiers etc... Seems to have someone guiding his message.

  5. That new Merc is sweet. Has a captains call option so to speak. Can be quite or with a little growl. Anxious to see one in person.
  6. You know the Ultrex is good when KVD switches to it after a life long relationship with motorguide. They are so good he had to so he could keep up with the competition.
  7. Only times I’ve seen fish swallow the hook is when someone isn’t paying attention to their line and the fish has the bait for too long before hook set.
  8. I’m struggling with my picks. I’m not sure how this is going to go. Several pros are predicting a lot of under 10lb bags will be weighed in. Should be a tight race throughout.
  9. I figured that was the case
  10. I like opening the whole back end myself.
  11. Fished the Take a Vet Fishing tournament yesterday. Fished with a guy from Amarillo, Tx. 74 years old. We fished big end from Cliftys to Rocky Branch. Caught a lot of fish just couldn’t get the big bite. Had 8.66 with 4 SM and 1Lm. Fish have definitely moved out to more main lake stuff. Topwater early, then points and isolated structures with depth the rest of the day. I was pretty excited to catch that LM late in the day on a flutter spoon. Under a dock with some depth. I had it tied on and wanted to try it. Came on the first cast and never caught another fish on it. Ha. All in all good day. The tournament doubled in participation from last year. Glad to be a part of it. God Bless our Veterans. Thank you John Newlun for putting it on.
  12. Glad all are ok. Wonder if it filled up with fumes and they forgot to pump that out before starting? Those can be pretty big explosions sometimes.
  13. I planned on using 20lb flouro as well.
  14. I bought 3 this week and they do not have split rings or swivel. I went ahead and purchased some rings and swivels just in case. Gonna try em out this weekend.
  15. What about fishing these around docks? Does rod size change? Do you think the Dixie Jet is better with or without swivel? If you do use a swivel do you put it on a leader or on the lure? Thanks.
  16. I’m sure both spoons work all year. That being said. Supposedly a flutter spoon is better when the water is warmer than 70 degrees and a jigging spoon is better when it’s less than 70 degrees.
  17. Folks just don’t understand launching rules. I don’t think they are doing it purposely. They just don’t know. I think there is an opportunity to make money somehow. I bet someone could do pretty well on a holiday weekend backing and parking vehicles for folks. Y’all be careful. Safe travels and tight lines.
  18. Thanks for the info. I had similar response last Saturday on Ima Little Stik. Not as many fish, but the strikes were vicious. Nothing beats a good topwater bite. Glad you had a good day.
  19. I believe those folks will be back!😊
  20. They were using that jerkbait at Lake Travis last weekend during Elite Series. I’m seeing a lot more of these late in the year during these tournaments. I guess it’s one of those Baits we need to have on year round.
  21. Walmart even sells them , but I don’t think they have the ones with the weed guard. Worms and heads are right next to each other.
  22. Weed guard for sure. Doesn’t keep them from biting it so why not? Only way I’m using without weed gaurd is to get rid of the ones I bought before I got the ones with the weed gaurd. 😊
  23. Finally a picture of the fish.
  24. I did Quill. Lots of spots and largemouth. Caught a toothy fish yesterday too. Keeper size. Threw her back. I would definitely be checking docks with depth when the sun gets high. Had a lot of fish darting out from the docks to look or bite my bait. Seemed like the bigger fish were under those docks. Friday.

    NWATT

Fished the Everett/NWATT yesterday. Caught our first 4 keepers on a Ima Little Stik. Missed a big one that wrapped me around a tree. Fish seemed to be concentrating on cedar tree tops outside points. Caught several on flukes around same areas but those fish came closer to the banks. Had limit before 9:00 upgraded several times before we headed to dirty water to try to get bigger bite. It was tough in dirty water. Got lucky and caught what would be overall big bass of the tournament @4.78lbs on a wobble head with 5 inch fighting frog trailer. Not a bad day . Had 11.88 for 24th place and overall big bass that won us $500, two new rods and a swag bag with Aftco gift cards.
