  1. Better than a post card! Gorgeous!!!
  2. I'm impressed!!!! I wish I could join you guys on Saturday, but I'll be returning from Lake Guntersville. Can't wait to see who has bragging rights. I see the early line has Babler at 5/2 and Champ at 2/1. Should be lots of fun for everyone. Maybe have to make it a annual event. Thanks again 5bites for all your help. Ken
  3. You boys, as usual covered everything they need for a great trip. The only thing that you left out was Reeds Spring Pizza (voted best in the state of Missouri by USA Today).
  4. Great job Bill!! It' been a long time since I've seen spots like that. That is what's called GOOD MEDICINE!!!!
  5. Very happy for Stacey!!! Praying that his strength holds up and he can win this one. He certainly deserves it after what he has been through. Great to see SOMEONE fishing in shorts!!!
  6. The new warts might be a little prettier, but they will never hunt like the pre-rapala warts. The main reason most of the tournament boys like the pre-rapala warts is not the just the color, but the action. It' a little bit like the pre-2004 megasbass ito visions (straight eye version). These baits in some colors are bringing around $100. on Ebay. Like Rapala, they made a change (besides the eye) that was not a good move. I think with both lures it's all about the action. I still say, buy a few of the pre-rapala warts in the undesirable colors, ($5 to $10 on Ebay) and have Hughesy paint them. He has some great color schemes, that will catch fish.
  7. Very competitive and he has a fantastic inventory. They actually have lures that work in this area. I was very impressed with the service and product that I got there. Jim asked me how I heard about his store. I replied, from the best fishing forum in the world. Good folks trying to help others catch fish.
  8. Alex, you are the Man!!!!!!!!! It had to be tough on the hands. Someone needs to make waterproof gloves with a slot for hand warmers.
  9. Looking good!!! Nicely done!!!
  10. You might wan't to check the weather report before you make the trip. If they're accurate it might be pretty nasty. I haven't been out in a while, so no help for you on the bite. I pulled my boat yesterday to get ready for Lake Guntersville.
  11. I was totally impressed with the inventory and service! I didn't expect to see so many baits that actually work in this area. The only complaint I had was their selection of finesse heads was limited...............Dave..............new customer.
  12. Made my first visit to Sportsman Factory Outlet. I got a chance to meet Jim and a few of his employees. This place is a first class operation, with a awesome inventory. The good news is that I got out of there for less than $200. which is hard to do these days. I'm stocking up for a trip to Lake Guntersville, Mach 6-13. I hear that it's a rattle trap paradise, with lots of grass. It looks like their weather is similar to ours, so it might be a jerk bait bite. Anyone with fishing info on Guntersville and willing to share. Please let me know. Thank You, Ken
  13. Teco, where have you been????? This site is not the same, without your input and knowledge. Everyone knows that Aunts Creek has NO fish!!!
  14. If I could only have one, it will be deadly black illusion. I've caught fish in clear or dirty water with this bait. I catch more fish throwing it on 8lb test, but you just can't horse the big girls.
  15. Nice job!!! It looks like someone has lots of talent. It will make a very comfortable boat for you.
  16. I think the top 7 have a shot at the big prize, but I'm going to go with Ike to keep Randy Howell from a repeat. You give Ike an opportunity like this and he will probably win. I have enjoyed the live coverage and learned a few tricks along the way.
  17. I look at the money that I have invested in the great sport of fishing and buying a couple of tickets for a GREAT cause seems like the right thing to do. Our Police Officers are more at risk today, than ever in the history of our country. I can only imagine what he and his family are going through right now.
  18. Hey Guys!!! This is your chance to help a wonderful man and his family and win a new Ranger boat at the same time. The top 3 prizes are pretty nice and I'm sure a lot more prizes will follow for this great cause. I even bought TWO tickets, as that's the only way I'll ever see a new boat. http://www.officerpearson.com/ Thank You and God Bless, Ken Spaanem
  19. Great info Dave!! I can't imagine me even attempting to throw the little rig on a bait caster. I have visions of my first blow up throwing into a 20 mph wind.
  20. Nice warts Alex! I think the old v37's are still a great bait on the Rock. I've been selling a few warts this winter, yes the prices have came down a bit. I think the word got out on what they would sell for on Ebay and lots of folks jumped on the band wagon. It's all about supply and demand.
  21. Great report Alex!! Thanks for sharing a great day of fishing. Do you think the approaching monster cold front might have triggered them? I think you've had the best jerk bait bite, so far this year. GOOD JOB!!!
  22. I'm looking for lodging for a father and his five sons for a week around June 1st. (I have already sent a PM to Babler) They have one bass boat, but would like to rent a additional boat or two. They would also like to hire a guide for three days (I've already suggested Babler and Beck). Any part of the lake will work for them, so I would appreciate any help from this great forum. Thank You in advance for your help. Feel free to PM me or call me direct at 417-527-2470. Ken Spaanem
  23. WOW!!! What a great report!! Thanks for sharing these special moments in life. The only thing that comes close to a father/ son bonding is a bond with a grandson.PRICELESS!!!
  24. I would guess the fish doctor has caught more bass on the Rock, than any other single bait. The ned has a good chance of surpassing the doctor for total numbers. I honestly feel the main reason is that both lures are very easy lure to fish (minimal talent required) Even I can catch fish on it.
  25. Thanks for the report Enforcer!! I think it's common for the bass to move shallow on some of the real warm days this time of year. I used to call it a false spawning run, as I couldn't understand why fish would be in four feet of water in Feb. I think they just seek the warmer water to thaw out and get those eggs ready. These fish are catchable, but from my experience; you have to think finesse and slow. Yes, the NED is not a bad choice.
