  1. Quote: "Maybe, just maybe, if we can get our government out of the pockets of big oil, coal etc., they will get into funding renewable energy sources that will make us able to use wind, solar etc. efficiently instead of giving their greedy contributors tax breaks." Not talking about big oil, it's the the government. Given time and technology, renewable energy sources could become pliable. Why come off sounding like a defeatist against the idea? Remember, the defeatists said they would never walk on the moon. Quote:"I think electric cars are a perfect example of putting the cart before the horse, while we struggle with higher energy cost and more and more pollution from coal powered generating plants, we're to believe that electric cars are making a difference. Whether you belch co2 out of an exhaust pipe or a smoke stack, it's still co2." Yes it is still CO2. But how many miles does the car get from a charge, and how much CO2 is put into the atmosphere to run that car per mile as per using an internal combustion engine? And why can't that source of energy for the electric car come from a wind mill or solar panel instead of a coal plant? Because too many naysayers are keeping that from happening with their "Rushbeckian" philosophy.
  2. Made me want to knock the bs right out of him and some sense in.
  3. Actually, it has been since we've had an open cash register door policy with Isreal.
  4. You need to go back and reread what I wrote. I never said anything about big oil having a measured concern with renewable energy. They should though since their livelihoods are at risk when there is no more oil. As for the "Rushbeckian" comment, I'm trying to get you to lose the attitude that is so outrageously demonstrated by the likes of Rush and Beck saying that if we go to "renewable energy" it would destroy the economy and bankrupt the nation along with killing all the jobs...
  5. They all secretly crave meat so their tofu pork chop is made to look like a pork chop.
  6. Olympus Stylus Tough 8010: This is a reduced (not cropped) picture taken from about 1-2" from my keyboard.
  7. This is the kind of snow I remember.
  8. What is a week other than a bunch of days? Get over it.
  9. Here is a resized photo I took looking out the window and a crop of the full size pic using the Olympus Stylus Tough 8010.
  10. Go ahead and s-t-r-e-t-c-h what I said. Maybe you should lay off the Busch instead of heading out for more.
  11. Maybe, just maybe, if we can get our government out of the pockets of big oil, coal etc., they will get into funding renewable energy sources that will make us able to use wind, solar etc. efficiently instead of giving their greedy contributors tax breaks. Nobody is saying it's gonna happen overnight, but it's gotta happen. Just lose the "Rushbeckian" fearmongering for a minute and think about it.
  12. According to one of the designers of the World Trade Center (WTC), the towers were originally designed to take the impact of a Boeing 707;
  13. Those -4° and 0° are overnight lows. What are the daytime highs supposed to be? By the weekend, it will be in the 30's and ice and snow melt then. So are a lot of other places but they don't all close. I'm sure when you used to work, you made it in when there was bad weather. I've already driven to work when there were reports of up to 18" of snow forecasted and we got it plus.
  14. When they built the World Trade Center Towers, they thought they would be able to withstand the impact of an airplane.
  15. People please. You're all acting like you never saw any snow and ice in your lives before. At least it will all melt in a couple of days and every thing will be back to normal. Get over it.
  16. Whether or not the Nevada desert is someones back yard or not doesn't matter. DO YOU WANT IT IN YOUR BACK YARD? I never said coal power was the way to go. I'm all for renewable energy like solar and wind. And why should we want to build more "nucular" power plants so the terrorists have more targets to choose from?
  17. On a freezing day like today, fling that gopro out the window while driving 80 mph over a bridge crossing the river and then take 5 hours trying to find it in the river and then tell us what you think of it.
  18. Raining in Mountain Home. That is supposed to change though.
  19. Not to mention that China, if not India too, is leading the US in the development of alternative fuel sources.
  20. I once hooked a bass in the gills with a spinnerbait. Got the hook out rather quickly and went to release the fish. The water was warm and that fish never recovered. It was legal size so I had it for dinner. If was not leagal size, I would have let the crayfish eat it cuz I don't want to be the one that gets caught keeping undersize fish.
  21. I just bought the Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 today. 14MP, 5x optical zoom, HD movie, waterproof to 33ft, shockproof to 6.6ft. I'll let ya know how it shoots as soon as I can get around to it. (gotta charge the battery etc.)
  22. The best republican president we ever had.
  23. And I'm sure you don't want it in your backyard either.
  24. Get involved with your local TU and maybe they can manage some stream restoration.
