  1. Sure wasn't designed for the desert.
  2. Just make sure ya got navigation lights or you could (although most likely not) end up in trouble there.
  3. And there in lies the problem. Even the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge needs protection from the messes the oil companies make while drilling for oil. Imagine a BP sized spill in the Arctic. Definately time to wake up and find alternative sources. How many more do we need to get our act together???????
  4. Could be a real pain to paddle through the unproductive waters. Just like my old one. Also no good for fishing the lakes.
  5. Which is bigger? The jaguar or the mountain lion?
  6. I never would have admitted that.
  7. Except for a few pricks and scratches, I've never hooked myself. Not in the flesh anyway. I have gotten hooks caught in my shirt, jacket and pants though.
  8. When I bought my first digital (Olympus) about 10 years ago, I also looked at the Fuji camera that was comparable. It just seemed too cheaply made so now I won't even look at a Fuji. I have also been looking for a "waterproof" camera and I am leaning toward the Pentax Optio w90. 14MP and HD video.
  9. Gotta have a garage for the buggy.
  10. Too wide and slow.
  11. Unless they are on a 400lber or an 80 year old grandma.
  12. Nuclear power has other drawbacks like nuclear waste. Nobody wants to deal with it and they certainly don't want it in their backyard. What is the environmental impact on windmills? That a few birds die? Not enough of an impact to worry about. It's already been stated in other threads that the amount of bird deaths due to windmills is less than bird deaths due to buildings. The desert is not the only place to put solar panels. There should be panels on every house to heat water and run the boobtube. Coal is easier to get at than NG and has been widely used for centuries compared to NG. In time, when they can figure out how to get the gas out of the earth without enviromental damage from fracking... Electric cars with solar panels to power them may one day be possible. With the $$$ BILLIONS the oil companies make in profit every year, they are the ones who should be researching alternative fuels. This earth only has so much oil and it is getting harder and harder to find and produce. Ever hear of "Peak Oil"?
  13. With that many people in a group, you can bet that lion was more scared than that group of hunters. And rightfully so.
  14. I can't see as well as I used to so I have to feel them.
  15. Anyone looking to purchase a new vise may find this informative. While not every single brand of vise was chosen for review, it is pretty informative. Fly Fish Ohio Vise Review.
  16. Let's not forget the fact that man is introducing more carbon into the atmosphere and at the same time reducing the rain forests which have a significant role in converting carbon to oxygen. A link for those who can't look it up for themselves.
  17. I'm not your research assistant and I'm not your mommy. Do your own homework. It's out there if you are really interested.
  18. And here is where the problem exists. If more and more people started voicing their opinions on this matter, maybe something more would actually get done about it. When one side of the political ailse keeps telling us that the American people don't want change then it will never happen. If that one side would start listening to more and more people who are concerned about renewable energy sources etc., you can bet they will change their way of thinking, if just to get re-elected.
  19. You have the choice to believe modern science or Rush Limbaugh. It's up to you to think for yourself. I can't do it for you. Although Rush will tell you what to think so you don't hurt yourself.
  20. The first thermometers were actually called "thermoscopes" and were made using water in the 1500's. The Fahrenheit scale, named after Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit the inventor of the alcohol thermometer in 1709 and the mercury thermometer in 1714, has been used widely since. So to answer your question, it was basically a thermometer invented by Santorio Santorio. The guy who is first credited with putting numbers to the thermoscope.
  21. I did not. "On one side, you have those that believe in the fact that our planet is getting warmer and we should at least try to do something about it."
  22. And when I hear them I can only conclude ignorance.
  23. I really don't know why this stuff even gets brought up here. On one side, you have those that believe in the fact that our planet is getting warmer and we should at least try to do something about it. On the other side, you have those that will never believe it because they think it's just a gimmick by the left wing tree huggers trying to infringe upon their livelyhoods. Nobody here can post all the facts that are out there and nobody will ever change anybody's way of thinking on this subject. It's a waste of time and energy to even try to convince those that do not believe it. Only when the likes of Faux News, Beck and Limbaugh etc. change their attitudes on this matter will we see some clear path to middle ground.
  24. Seen this kayak at the Wilderness Systems webpage.
  25. If we can find an access to take out at.
