  1. Summer is coming...gonna be too hot to go fishing.
  2. Thanks for posting that. If I ever get done unpacking from the move, I'm gonna have to get over there. Hopefully this article won't make me end up combat fishing.
  3. I got this pattern in an e-mail notice today. Periodical Cicada
  4. The shrinks have taken me on for a project and they have no idea if they will ever figure me out.
  5. I should mount the camera back onto the dash and I'd get plenty of deer dashcam pics while driving around.
  6. And the point is, when will it stop? Congress is always complaining about cutting spending, yet millions are spent on so few for the simple reason of downright stubborn stupidity. And everyones opinion counts or this debating, as we are doing here, is a moot point. (Although calling your representatives in government is worth nothing unless you send that fat check along.)
  7. They should have never spent the money to rebuild New Orleans. If you live in a flood prone area, get out. It's as simple as I've stated earlier in this discussion. Why should everyone else have to pay for their idiocy? Even if it's the insurance companies who have to pay for the flood damage, it costs all of us because the insurance companies have to make up their losses some how. And they ain't gonna make it up entirely on those who continue to live in the flood planes or areas that are prone to flooding.
  8. The COE doesn't have to buy out any land, pay to move people or rebuild any city. When these morons living on the flood plains get flooded out every year or so, either their flood insurance or FEMA pays for their damages. That money could be better spent on buying a new home where they wouldn't need to be bailed out year after year. Give them a warning. They get paid once, and then they're on their own. And any new homes built on the flood plains, after a certain date, get no FEMA flood protection at all. It's that simple.
  9. I wouldn't say that all the levees should be blown asap. Just leave them all alone and do not put anymore effort into trying to save some town or any farmland. Just quit spending money on them. Tell the people that no more work will be done to the levees and it's time to get out before the next great flood, which seems to be happening quite regularly. Give the people notice and let them live with their actions or inactions.
  10. When will the USACE realize they can't defeat mother nature? Build a levee to protect a town. Now you got more flooding down river, so build another levee to protect the next town. When will it end? And when it comes time to find out that the levees will not do the job they are supposed to do, waste taxpayer dollars by blowing up the levees they spent millions of taxpayer dollars on to build. The only sensible solution is to get everyone off the flood plains and get rid of the levees. Let the water go where it wants. If people are stupid enough to live on the flood plain, then let them live up to their own responibility. I have no compassion for those flood victims along the White River system such as Taneycomo. You build a house on the edge of a river...
  11. If I wasn't so gosh dang busy with the moving, I'd meet you out there. I've been watching the water levels come down and it looks like it should be a great float out there now.
  12. That's only because you use bait. And since you would call it "master" that would make you a master baiter.
  13. I thought the first thing you should do is shoot it like the last two reported sightings.
  14. Then I think maybe I should give it to you. And what wouild you call that 5wt you were using when we fished???
  15. White/chartreuse with a big ol' willow leaf blade.
  16. Can you say "PARTY!!!!!" At least it will take your mind away from having to think about not fishing and it would get you away from the easel.
  17. My heaviest rod is a 9wt that I used for salmon and pike fishing. I don't live near the ocean where I'd need an 11wt for big tarpon. And a 9wt ain't no buggy whip.
  18. I got the NWS set as my homepage so it's the first thing I check out after I read my email. If you click on the 3day history, they give the rainfall amounts.
  19. Gotta love them bluegills. You can usually get them to bite when every other species of fish turns up their noses at every lure or bait you toss to them. They can easily turn a skunk into a good quality fishing day. Just don't use that extra heavy pool cue rod to fish for them and they will be fun.
  20. Unless it's at the bottom of the lake leaking all kinds of nasty fluid...
  21. The back of the creek channels should clear up first. When I was at Pigeon Creek yesterday, I could see the water was beginning to clear up some from earlier in the week, but it was still pretty stained and looking a bit browninsh. Now with the rain we had this AM, it will probably mud up again some more.
  22. I thought there was something funny when I saw the pics and videos. Now I know what it was. There were no big ol' redwood trees. Praters been cutting them down.
  23. Like the rest of the lake.
