The "new" higher pool level is going to be a game changer for you. Until the bushes die and rot away, we are basically going to have a high water spawn every year. Fish are most def using the bushes. Keep an open mind and pay attention to what the bites you get are telling you and you will be fine. Go watch video of what the Bass Master Elites did. I would also expect top water hard baits to start shining soon.

Don't be. People are catching them. I suspect numbers are just fine. For better or worse, no other group of anglers talks about their fishing as much as bass anglers. i get the feeling that catfish are going good on Bull Shoals right now, but how would you now from trip reports. Crappie guys tend to be closed mouthed until after it's over. And the crappie bite is largely over. The easy fishing anyway. Go catch a bunch and then tell us about it. I have a co-worker getting all amped up about the first week of spear fishing season.

One of my friends was around Vancouver Island catching salmon. We reached over the side of the boat to release a salmon and a freaking sea lion snatched it out of his hand at a high velocity. Happened to fast to scare him until he had time to think about it.

My Dad caught a owl on a Devil's Horse. You definitely do not want to throw a Devil's Horse around owls. He had to stop fishing it a couple of other times when an owl would fly up and land close by to watch it a little while longer before striking it. Oh yeah and don't throw a frog around an alligator either. Or a big ole banded water snake.

Not everybody trolls me on the Gizzard shad thing (yet). If not catching a gizzard shad every year is my cross to bear, so be it.

I understand completely Dan. Life gets in the way of my fishing on a near daily basis. In my book, your creek/bank fishing trips do count. I WANT to fish at least once a week. I do not get to do so. Good for you on the walleye. You'll get there. I'm confident you'll catch one every month of the year soon.

Very Nice! My wife will fish with me occasionally and is really pretty good at it, but a few times a year is all she wants to fish and she'll catch a few and then she's good.

I was about 10 when I caught the Cutlass fish. It was about 5 foot long. I was surf fishing so I was in the water with it. I had NO idea what it was, but man did it have a bunch of scary teeth. Iridescent metal rainbow colors. I think I poked him with the rod tip until the jig popped out. I'm 100% certain that I did not grab him to pop the hooks out by hand.

OH, I've caught a half dozen Gizzard shad, I just couldn't buy one last year when I had a real good push for species going. I have not caught one yet this year either. Maybe I will get lucky.

I'm not sure I have EVER caught a Flier. I was with a guy that caught 2 Quillback on a fly rod (Ohio) on one trip, but I was not able to catch one of those. I caught all kinda odd carp/sucker variants that trip several of which I could not identify.

Blues were dominating in the early part of that game, but failed to bury the puck on some quality scoring chances. I was proud of the Blues for picking themselves up and evening up the score, but their 3 rd period fore check and puck control was awful. Their goalie really kept them in the game. This loss is in spite of his best efforts. I hope for a better outcome next game.

I wonder what that would be like.

I look forward to seeing how the other length Air Streams compare to the 7 footers. I think they'll be just fine, but I can only recommend what I have actually have used.

You choose. I got a pretty darn big Spoonbill on a LIttle N up the James river arm of Table Rock. I'm keeping the color a secret though. I caught a Striped Mullet on a single spin spinnerbait (home made) just off Big Bayou Pigeon. They pull pretty well. I caught a pretty freaking large Common Snapper on a Slider Head and Tiny Brush Hog. I was lucky in that is was only skin hooked and the boatside release was easy. I'd suggest Green Pumpkin TBH if you are turtle fishing. I got a pretty darn big water snake on a Bandit 100 on the Red River in Pool 5. Cranking brush just off the main river in dingy water. He had both trebles in the mouth. Heavy but didn't pull for crap. Oyster Toadfish in the Calcasieu River by a barge terminal on a smallish jig. I was trying for pinfish. I caught those too. Cutlass Fish surf fishing off Last Isle (which has been lost to coastal erosion). FREAKY! I hooked, but chose not to land a 40 poundish Nutria Rat on a white Boogerman Buzzbait. He looked angry and the orange teeth can do some damage.

Man, I love the part of Bull Shoals that is around the Oakland area. Millions of fish to be caught there. Stupid good.

Hard to find the negative in Murray's success, but I will. I've been a Fleury defender for a long time. I felt like he got made into the scape goat when they were ravaged by injuries going into the playoffs. He has been really solid since that one bad playoff run. I watch his win totals rise and him inch into a Top 20 all time goaltender and if he can stay in Pittsburgh and keep getting 60 starts a season, he will be a Top 10 all time goaltender in 3 years. BUT professional sports are a business and Fleury's $5 million a year may get him replaced by younger and less expensive Matt Murray. Expansion draft target.

Phil, Ducky, and Bill Babbler (and a host of other side) have posted lots of great information on fishing Taneycomo. Look for reports just prior to your trip to get a feel for what is going on. I am very far from a Taneycomo expert. I've fished it three times, but we whacked me everytime I have fished it. Two trips with current and one trip without. I would expect drift rigs fished bouncing along the bottom will produce BUT I'm sure there will be trip reports.

I'm one happy,happy, happy Pens fan. Very impressed with the effort that the Pens dialed up tonight. Murray frequently lets in a soft goal early and then shuts the door pretty hard. I never would have expected him to be the hot goalie that stole a series for his team, but he's been key. If he had played this well in Game One, the series would be over. it takes four wins to move on and getting #4 may prove very difficult, but I love their chances. Look forward to seeing Letang back on the ice. I hope he has the best game of his career.
