  1. I get really tired of the hate/ disrepect for Les MIles from Arky fans (and LSU fans too but thats another rant). He averaged more than 9 wins a year. He has guided LSU to 42 consecutive regular season non conference wins (think Toledo). He got LSU another National Championship. LSU has three of them. He got us one. He coached in another National Championship game that was a disaster. That LSU team went to Alabama and beat a better team. I really dont think bama should have gotten a rematch after NOT having played in SEC Championship, but I was not shocked LSU lost that game. I was bitterly disappointed in how they played. Regardless, that's One National Championship more than Arkansas has total. Les Miles is loved by his players and is able to recruit them well. LSU did not always recruit this well and we will not recruit as well IF he leaves. I do believe LSU will continue to recruit better than U of A, but I doubt they remain NFLU after Miles is run off. It's total bull crap to NOT give Miles credit for the talent he obtains, but then blame him for faiing to win a national championship every year. What the hell kind of standard is that? National Championship every 5 years or you have to go? Saban and bama has been the main stumbling block for Miles. LSU fans constantly bring that up and make that comparision because Saban left LSU to go to the NFL. Saban aint coming back and I don't want him back. Saban is NOT getting routinely beat by other SEC coaches either. Saban is a very successful coach and a very flawed person. I would love for him to go back to the NFL and fail again or leave bama and be a football nazi somewhere else. BUT whatever Les Miles has been way more successful over his time at LSU that any of the Arkansas coaches during his time. If Petrino would have bought his girlfriends with his own money, he may have been close to being as successful as Miles has been, but he bought his side action with U of A money and that cost him. Don't tell me how Miles has under performed when your guys haven't been close. The LSU vs Arkansas is a one sided rivarily. It is a huge game for Arky, and LSU always plays flat. I have no clue why LSU doesn't care about that game and I wish it was different, but it aint. I have no clue why they switched to Tamu. I don't think Tamu is going to be a good team in the long haul, but we will see I suppose.
  2. Hey Bill, I really wish ALL the guides on my section of the White River cared about the resource that they use to make money. I'd like to tattoo your post on their brain so that they would behave likewise. Most of the fly fishing guides are on board with being good stewarts of the resource and sell the experience/ memories rather than a catch and kill package deal. Other guides use corn and natural baits and have their entire party fish that way all day. Killing untold thousands of trout every year in addition to the ones that they legally harvest. Its a bummer. I'm all onboard with folks selectively harvesting trout, but to continue to gut hook fish all day after you have your 5 to take home seems awfully irresponsible to me ESPECIALLY if you are a guide that plans on guiding in the future.
  3. IF life had not reared its ugly head yesterday, I would have sore mouthed > 50 bass on BSL yesterday. As an aside, I did flyrod fish Norfork Saturday afternoon. I actually was somehow able to fish in gale force winds with the fly rod and caught a bunch on a scud pattern. I think it took me 4 hours, but I caught 24 Bows and one little Cuttie. Frst time in a long time I've fly rodded for trout. It was like riding a bike though. I had fun.
  4. I seriously need to win the lottery or something. My work life is cramping my fishing life pretty hard. The weather yesterday, today, and tomorrow was awesome for Fall fishing on the area lakes. Sadly, I only had time to catch 25 trout on the White yesterday. I caught 10 an hour, but I swear it felt slow. Half my fish were decent and half were dinky.
  5. Bret Palmer is the man to ask about Go Pro stuff. He has a ton of hours under his belt playing with it. He'll see this and chime in. (I hope).
  6. I'll send a pm/text. I was on the lake Thursday and Friday. We caught em. Life got in the way or I would be there today.
  7. They are still biting on Bull
  8. FWIW, Academy has gallons of Merc Quicksilver Premium Plus oil for $19.99. I have been told that it qualifies for free shipping if you spend more than $25.00. So buy 2 gallons and get free shipping. I had a buddy pick up four gallons for me so I'm good for a year.
  9. Might be ok for side guide ons.

    River Report Part 2

    Most excellent
  11. Can't seem to enter chat room on my I pad. Awks
  12. Yeah, The White River finally got back to normal and now they'll be running a crap tonne of water out of BSL again.
  13. Man, I wonder where all the water will go?
  14. No problem, we just to take it down to 80 foot low and leave it there for a month or two. JK
  15. Nice looking boat. Seems like a fair price, but I know nada about the blue book value.
  16. Hey John, I see big Brown Demon trout and can not get them to play. The Bows will definitely light you up though. Ham
  17. I had Justin take me up to Hammond Camp and I floated back to his place. That fish came about 1 mike or so above Sunburst. I caught one bigger than that the trip there before that, but I could not access my phone and I had no net. I took a quick measurement while drifting towards trouble. I wanted to get the fish back in the water. I think that one was around 23 inches. I catch a lot less fish than on the White, but the average size is WAY better.
  18. 21 plus inches of NFOW Rainbow
  19. Same deal. I think that was a wise choice on your part.
  20. I think I learn more on the days I struggle, but I like the days I fall into a big pile of them a lot more. I can definitely say its better to work hard and catch them late than it is to catch a big bunch first thing and then go STONE COLD for the rest of the day.
  21. I've had flats and even true blow outs, but I've never had a tire come all to pieces like that one did. I do hope that this is a one and done experience for me.
  22. "couldn't keep the white's off my lure" That is a GOOD problem to have. Jelly.
  23. Having ZM in BSL is definitely going to cost me dozens of extra jigheads and/or lures a year. No doubt about that.
  24. Hey Justin, Is there going to be any chance that NFOW will not get blown out by this rain event? I've got a buddy flying in that I need to show my fishing world to.
  25. I've got a friend flying in Wednesday. I'm going to do my best to put him on SOME fish Thurs, Friday, and Sat.
