  1. 24k or there a bouts is max 8 units. So roughly double normal max generation. I have no interest in trying to navigate a boat on that level of flow. Is the river closed to boating?
  2. Sounds like Table Rock to me. I have some great trips with cajun angler and then some terrible trips. Very frustrating.
  3. NO, I'm not ready to ses 696. I'm freaking ready to see partly cloudy with a 10 MPH wind and 20% chance of rain. I'm ready to see 676' in BSL so I can launch a boat and catch some fish.
  4. I hope everybody is careful witht he smalies they are catching in the creeks this year. This years spawn is TOAST.
  5. I can't imagine why you would want a TM On a kayak. TO me, the beauty of the deal is freedom from TM and battery. You've got power and control as long as you have the energy to hang onto a paddle. God Bless. I hope it works out. I just don't understand the motivation.
  6. Sabine River ; Logansport, La - White Bass - around the middle of Feburary - World Class run. Lots of them and lots of BIG Sows. Some years are better than others, of course, but on the good years- I can't believe it gets any better anywhere than there. Toledo Bend - May - Crappie move out on the flats post spawn. Drift along in 10-18 FOW. LOTS of em. Big too. Nice thump on that jig. New River- Pembroke VA - I fished it two days and each day I caught a smallie > 20 inches. Nuff said. Venice, Louisiana. October/November. LSU football/hunting season thins out the crowd a bit. Fish brackish water for tons of species. Flipping canes with soft plastics is big fun. Or spinnerbaits along the edges. Bring lots of spinerbaits, Redfish destroy them. Ontario, Canada pick a lake. Walleye, Smallies, Panfish like nobody's business. Pike and Musky too. Go as soon as bass season opens. Guntersville Lake for frog fishing on the matted surface vegetation. crap I could list stuff forever.
  7. Kel guided on the Guadaloupe, Blanco, Llano, and San Marcos that I know about. He's done the Devil's, but I don't know that he guided on it. There's fishing to be had in Louisiana right now. Kayak Redfish would be NO problem. Yellowstone Cutts then. That'll be just fine with me. Like them a bunch too.
  8. I'm certainly open to suggestions. I love Redfish. I'm sure they would be a hoot from a kayak. Kelly Watson keeps inviting.
  9. I've been thinking about my outdoors bucket list. My son graduates High School in a week. My daughter will been done a few more years. I'm not waiting on them to leave the house before I start living, but once they are away at college, I'll be a little more free to wander. So here's what I'm thinking about, 1) boundary waters: canoe camping and lots of smallies. 2) tarpon on a fly. Doesn't have to be a big one. I'm leaning towards kayak fishing mangrove backwaters. 3) King Salmon. See the Northern Lights. swat a billion mosquitoes. Ship some halibut fillets home. 4) American shad fishing on the East coast. I'll sneak in some more east coast smallies while I'm there. 5) Sturgeon. 6) Devil's River in Texas. 7) Kentucky Lake. Multi species festival 8) Niagra River. See above. 9) Yellowstone. Brook Trout. See some bears and mud pots.hike a bunch. 10) Water Town,NY / St Lawrence seaway.
  10. When they pulled the floodgates on the Norfork last time, it was like Niagra Falls really really violent water. I saw it first hand and would have assumed NOTHING could survive that ride, but warm water fish by the thousands did. They survived the flood gates at BSL as well. I had heard a rumor that some stripers did hang immediately below the dam at Beaver and get fat and happy on stockers, but I never saw anything that confirmed that on my 1/2 dozen trips there.
  11. It's early yet, but boat docks ALWAYS have a population of panfish on them. I'm still working on the concept of filling a freezer with bluegill though.
  12. sale pending
  13. Yep. I can also route it there via my fishing buddy that lives in Nixa, MO.
  14. I clearing out some nice rods that I'm just not fishing with enough to justify keeping them. I have a St Croix spinning rod that I would like to sell. It is the 6 foot medium one piece Premier model. This rod is the PS60MF. It is a fast action rod that is pretty nice on the creek with tubes or jigs for River Smallies. Light used. Not new, but minimal signs of wear. I'm asking $50. PM or email me ; We will have to work out delivery because shipping costs would negate savings for the buyer.
  15. It is a bait casting rod.
  16. It would be great if folks that are launching on BSL would post what ramps they have used recently at what water level. Thanks in advance.
  17. I bought this rod fall 2010. Micro guide split grip. I've fished with it a half dozen times. Not a thing wrong with the rod. I just don't like the feel of the handle. I'm asking $100.
  18. I saw my first one in the yard today.
  19. You're killing me. I had so looked forward to this time of year, but I find myself unexpectedly without a boat. Sucks to be me as far as a bass boat goes. Won't be forever, but I'm missing this bite.
  20. And bring some dog treats with you. His brown dog is gettin kinda skinny.
  21. I hope the carp get tuned into that "hatch". I need to exercise my 8 wt.
  22. Yes. Give Jimmy Walker a call at 870-404-6054. Make sure you have a few minutes to spare.
  23. I floated it solo on Tuesday. Pyatt to Snow. Jimmy Walker shuttled me. The creek is definitely different. Lost a pool I loved. Got a new way to avoid a killer turn. Tons of gravel has changed location. Lots of new wood in the water, but none that is an exceptional hazard.
  24. Spinnerbaits are a lot like screw drivers. I use the one that fits the job. I have favorite jerkbaits and topwaters. I don't have a favorite SB.
