These days, 6'6" to 6'8". In my Louisiana days, I would have said 6'. Need longer casts here, but sometimes I'd like more accuracy than is easy with a 7 footer.
i also used to think 1/2 oz was a heavy SB, but you have to remember that down there 10 foot is DEEP water.
I'll take a look at the FG. It's maybe 80/20 on the Alberto. When I pull on a snag, 8 out of 10 times I lose everything. I never break the Alberto knot on fish though.
I use the Alberto.
Uni to uni works fine but it is a bulkier knot.
a surgeons knot with three wraps instead of two seems to work pretty well but it isn't quite as good as Alberto IMO
The Okuma l have is a "L" 7 footish (may be a 6'10") C3-40X. Discontinued
I had a Fenwick Bronzeback ML 6'10" that I loved for Ned. I Loaned it to a kid that brought crap gear to fish with me in the BassCat and he managed to break it. ?
Super Dave's std advice is dead on. Rods labeled dropshot are a good place to start.
I often set the hook way too hard, but I have never set the hook as hard as Dave does with almost every hook set.
Its crazy, but you can't argue with his success rate.
Any chance that you are using banjo technique to free snagged lures? Fluor doesn't like that.
Backlash very much? Fluro hates that too.
I don't like micro guides much at all. They may be part of it or maybe not
The Caddyshack line just didn't jump to my mind. I don't have movie scenes memorized very well.
I do remember that The wealthy DTF girl was smoking hot in that movie.
I like PBJ in clear water in cloudy days ONLY. I haven't had luck with otherwise and Im done trying to force feed them. They freaking eat dirt all the time. Not what I throw in dirty water though.
I struggle to understand why, but Watermelon /Red has not been great for me with Ned. I love the color, but not for Ned.
I like dirt a lot more than PBJ
