  1. I haven't dropped the Ned in the clowns mouth yet, but I have dropped a grub straight down on fish I saw on the depth finder and caught them. I absolutely know a Ned would do that job as well.
  2. In no time at all, you'll be less bothered by the snakes and more bothered by the vacationing crowds that overwhelm the river on the weekends. We've all been parts of the crowd in the past so I get it. Long periods of off season though where you can have the river mostly to yourself. It's an amazing place. Round Top Mountain, Sam's Throne, Kings Bluff, Ponca, etc
  3. Those snakes have ZERO interest in you. They pose no more of a threat to you than the birds in the trees or the turtle sunning on rocks. Knowledge is power. Learn about them and you'll have nothing to worry about. Check out the Herps of Arkansas website. I love Newton County. Enjoy it there.
  4. Kevin Short had run 150 miles or so based on GPS in a day. Hackney ran more like 180 something. Yuk
  5. Why the culling do dad on the smallie?
  6. Goodness gracious they are blowing thru some gasoline. Most are having to refuel during the day. I don't wanna fish like that.
  7. That's usually what I shoot for is upper third. In the tournaments I have fished, that got e a check.
  8. That is certainly true, but I have found a line that works for me and that doesn't have to be replaced every three trips.
  9. Where is the launch? I have in laws in town and my day pre-planned for me.
  10. Nah Man!
  11. How many > 8 lb fish today?
  12. That's 17 pounds bigger than any turkey I've killed. Good for her!
  13. Awesome! That seems like a Big Ole Bird.
  14. The trick is to find places that have a crap ton of fish that SET UP correctly with the existing wind.

Thanks Again for all the help Dave. I am in your debt Sir.
  16. To each his own. I usually cuss the wind like everybody else, but smile when I set the hook and wind yet another Ned rig fish in. I fish the same direction the wind is blowing using a drift sock. The drift sock keeps boat speed down and give a pivot point to adjust boat position. I keep my rod tip down. I will occassionlly lay the line in the surface of the water itself watching for any sign of a strike and do a small lift ocassionally.
  17. My Jackall Mikey worked great straight out the package, but DID NOT get eaten.
  18. I've caught a few fish on a Redfin and more than a few on other wake baits. I didn't think I was burning it, but I'd like to retrieve it faster than a Ned or a Suspending jerk bait. I need a "pro" to go with me and slow me the proper way to work a Redfin I suppose.
  19. Lol, 75 yards of Nano on top of mono will last over a year of real steady fishing. Heck, you can use InvisX 6 lb for your leader if you want to.
  20. Deep hooiking is going to happen with any soft plastic lure and smallies. I hate it, but they are so quick to swallow some times. The Ned should be a lot worse than actually is. Small and slender and catching a really high rate of fish, I'm surprized I have not seen it more. By using Nanofil and paying attention even when dead sticking it, I had one (1) deep hooked fish out of a whole bunch (way > 100) at 10K. Tubes are worse, way worse. Heck, even grubs are worse and that was with a steady retrieve.
  21. Maybe I got a bad one. I thought mine sucked. It took way too much effort and way too slow a speed to keep it on the surface and throwing a Vee. I'll give it another try.
  22. It is remarkable how many channel cats the Ned rig catches.
  23. I would think it would do a lot of things well.
  24. You really should try the Ned at Toledo Bend. It makes LMB and Spots come out of empty water. I caught them good on it during a MAJOR cold spell at Toledo Bend last spring.
  25. That is a heck of a catfishing rig.
