  1. 98) Mummichog , I've been borderline jealous of all these killifish John has been catching. These fat little dudes terrorize small little bugs and crap. Aggressive isn't a strong enough word. Location, location, location. Drop a tiny piece of worm near them and look out.
  2. Probable Pumpkinseed
  3. You won't be disappointed
  4. Yin / yang?
  5. That's not how this works
  6. The benefits of fish ladders
  7. 97) White Perch , Super Happy to get this guy. He completed the Morone family for me. I ended up catching a couple more.
  8. 96) Pumpkinseed, not present on picture day. I got a little pumpkinseed that we both agreed was my guy. While getting the camera out, he finned me and got back into the water sans pic. edit : went back to the same little spot and a cleaner seed.
  9. Here's my first one that has better Alice Cooper make up
  10. 95) BlueSpotted Sunfish John mention catching these on a certain apot. The Tide was High and we had a chance. John's skill set showed itself again and he got the first one. He forced me to fish the correct spot and I caught a couple.
  11. 94) Eastern Mosquitofish , omnipresent. And yet I started to press. It's silly how I live and die on every hookset. I lifted 5 before I got one in hand. I caught several.
  12. 93) Banded Killifish , This is one that John was really counting on me catching. I made it more difficult than expected, but I got it done.
  13. Hide and watch
  14. 92) Redbreast Sunfish my first one was tiny and then a little bigger and then larger and larger still. I was stoked about the first one, but I was shaking them off trying for a pumpkinseed right before the morning session ended. such is the Push for 100
  15. I don't catch many that size anywhere on the river. the new regs were really helping pre-Covid ; maybe we'll get back there again
  16. That's a Toad! Really, really nice fish on a fly rod
  17. Another Satinfin
  18. 91) Satinfin Shiner This one wasn't even on my possible targets. Happy to catch him for sure though. Another Lifer. Cyprinella to boot.
  19. He's up to the challenge ! I might be. Full Disclosure : John caught the first one and then "suggested" I try there too
  20. 90) Fallfish : not the size I was hoping for, but a Fallfish none the less.
  21. Hanging with John ; he's got me in a position to succeed. I got another of my 40 in 40. Blue Spotted Sunfish! Lifer!
  22. 89) Steelcolored Shiner ; two pictures of the same fish. I've had a lot more frustration than success on my recent trips and honestly have not been up for much fishing since Luna got injured. This was the target species for the day, but I had hoped to add a new darter as well. I had my chances at a new darter. Lots and lots of fish that I presented the right size baits right at their little tiny nose. They were not having it. I could see them feeding on stuff, but what they were eating was too small for me to see. it was my intention to be over 90 species and I was hoping to be at 95 species before I headed north, but I am where I am.
  23. My Dad had a 6 foot Premier in Light that was really nice. I bought that rod in the 7 foot model because I like the extra length and it was not (IMO ) a good jig rod. Totally different feel. I tried one of their Panfish series and was very disappointed. Scared to try another
  24. Man, I really appreciate you doing that! I'm sneaking a few fishing outings in a trip with my wife and I can't do a week of daylight until dark trips like I would want to do. I've been stuck at 88 species for a while now and I'm still stressing about my dog. Your trips give me renewed hope for lifers and a chance to cross the line inside of September. I'm really looking forward to fishing with a John again. Tick, tick, tick.
  25. If you chose to, you can set 200 as a goal next year. I think there is still time this year, but you're the pro.
