  1. I vistited my friends in Lesterville this weekend to help with a buddies Graduation celebration. We fished from Lesterville to the first Smiley face and at least half the Smallies were still gaurding beds and doing really well.Go Smallies protect those babies!!! The water level and color as always was quite simply beautiful. The thing about the Black this time of year with the clarity of that river you can virtualy see most everything in the entire river. It's like floating in an aquarium. I caught a few, all males and one much bigger female, once I pulled the nice female off a bed I quit for the day and just floated and observed....kind of felt bad pulling her off her babies nusery. We saw some eagles and a ton of Cicadas.I did see a group of really nice smallies hammering Cicadas as the fell into the river off of a flimsy overhanging branch. They were just blowing them up but, try as I did I couldn't get them to hit any topwater I had to offer????? Also the MO conservation dept tagged several fish in that river, I saw tons of Smallies with tags???? Sorry I don't have a pic of the big female my wife had the camera at the lodge with the celebration...she was only 17 inches and went right back to her nest....thank god!!!! Also I really am hoping and praying for friends in Joplin I haven't herd from as of yet....they live on the southern side of town and both work at St.Johns........ God help them.
  2. Who's gonna wanna visit you in Competition? lol) That place is one of many I'm looking at....I just got a little excited when I looked at it and walked the land and saw the Nade a 100 yards from the back patio. The nice ponds full of bass were great and the main house is off the charts nice but, I don't know if 478 acres is something I have the epuipment for or the time. It's actually closer to Hartville and I'm hoping not many people ever visit....seclusion is what I desire right now. City boy or Country Boy we all love Smallies and you are right there are very nice Smallie streams in Hawaii, unfortunately they consider them an invasive species. We mountain biked on Oahu once and had a guide show us the mountain streams there that hold Smallies and caught a few decent ones. They all looked like Northern Smallies, fat as hell. The scenery was badazz as you say the fishing itself was tough.Mabey it's because we were city slickers and they knew it.
  3. Don't worry Cricket the nade is a good place to fish but, it will also be a starting place for me to hit every other river in the region.Osage Fork,Big Piney,Beaver Creek every river that flows under Hwy 60 and 160, the Niangua,Prater Shoal all will be at my disposal well with in reach at a much closer drive than where I'm at now. Please by all means keep away from the nade if you think it sucks. Country boy
  4. Good for you....very cool that you are going to fish it.I was going to but logisticly it poses a problem for me with location and the map of river boundaries....it's just going to be too much driving in an area that I am not familar with. Please post a report and results if you could so a looser like me can live vicariously thru you. Scott
  5. screw them!!!! you can fish the blue with Cleos and mepps.i lived there for two years in Silverthorne and caught many huge trout on spinning rods right below Dillon Res and thru town all the way to green mountain Res on big Brown trout rapalas.Use orange and pink rapalas if you can find them as the trout grow big from fresh water shrimp below the darn.I fish Flyrods and spinning gear for trout and have never looked down on anyone ever for using a spinning rod.Half of the flyrod guys out there would have never picked up a flyrod until they saw Brad Pitt do it, so don't worry about fishing with a spinning rod......to hell with any flyrod guy that looks down on you for fishing with a spinning reel.
  6. Dude, anyone from this forum if they ask or talk to me is more than welcome....if I get this place I might have to have an OAF float-a-thon and pig roast.....there's three houses on this property. I'm just very paranoid of what the river is like down there. I have heard some good things from guys on here who I have great respect for their river knowledge, so I'm feeling better about it.
  7. Does anyone on this forum have any experience on the Gasconade above the town of Competition???? I know everything I have read says that it is an area that should only be floated in high water conditions or in the spring.I don't believe everything I read thats for sure. I looked at a farm down there on the river and the river looked pretty friggin sweet where this farm is but, I do know Beaver Creek flows in about 1000 yards downstream from this property and I was wondering if that made the river look that much better there or not. The property itself is priced so good and has everything I could ever dream of including a 6 acre pond right out your back door stocked with some sort of half Illinois/Florida Largemouth, you could see really nice bass everywhere in the shallows hammering Bluegill and spawning it was something to behold. I'm just rying to make sure the river is nothing but a small creek down there......I guess I'm just going to have to try to float it....very soon and see for myself. I might be paying Wright County taxes soon any and all opinions on this area of the Gasconade are greatly appreciated as this may be the most important purchase of my life
  8. Are you talking about on the right as you go downstream???? We call that grist mill, I met the old dude that claimed that was his property once. He was actualy very nice and was really interested in how we were catching smallies.......that was in 1999 it's little road off of AF that at one point had a sign that read Grist Mill, it's kinda sketchy
  9. very nice report Brett....sounds like you guys had a blast. I can't wait to get down there!!!! must catch some Trock jaws soon.
  10. Doug, once again great info and post. I love it when you post and I always learn something new thank you!!! I love my 788 ci di's
  11. Ness is correct the Blue is the closest and the best. I lived in Silverthorne for two years when I worked for Dopplemeyer installing the new quads and gondolas at Keystone and A Basin. If you want to avoid the crowds and the poor fishing in Breck follow the Blue down stream or North thru Frisco into Silverthorne and further. The fishing gets better and the trout get bigger the further you get from Breck. You have to ask yourself above Dillion reservoirs or below. My condo was actually just above flood stage on the Blue and I took full advantage of that and fished it quite a bit as weather permited.Call these guys My link they are located right on the river right next to where my condo was. They are very cool and relaxed, they are responsible for me getting into flyfish at all. They can give you directions to a creek that flows into the Blue north of Silverthorne, at the confluence is a great area that none of the tourist even begin to know about. There is also a great creek that flows down Buffalo Mountain which is the first really round looking peak that you see when you come out of Eisenhower tunnel. This creek flows into the Blue right at HWY 70 in an industrial looking area but, if you follow that creek back up the mountain it holds so many nice trout that are easy to catch, plus the scenery hiking up the creek is friggin crazy, just make sure you are in shape, it goes back up the mountain fast and can be tough....the boys at Cutthroat Anglers will show you. There is also a really nice creek or river that flows behind the Ten Mile range out of Leadville down to Copper Mountain that has nice Browns, I forgot the name of it, I need my old map!!!!!!!! BLUE RIVER HIT IT
  12. J, I too agree that Accent makes some nice Buzz's and buy them once a year from these guysMy link it's a good site to buy stuff from, I've been ordering from them for years and they have had Accent HR B-2's the whole time.Susquehanna Fishing Tackle has some cool soft plastics that I buy as well Scott
  13. I will agree with Paul....that creek is fun and dangerous to run at high water.....good times
  14. I couldn't agree more and could not have stated it better.........what Gavin said....I'll second that.
  15. Great!!!! I swear these tackle manufacturers see me coming.....they know there is a black hole in my pocket with money constant flowing out it to them.......I will buy anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by the way I stocked up on a bunch of War Eagle stuff friday including apparel ....I'm a sucker!!!!
  16. any reasons why????? I have a spool of 8 lb, havent used it yet though.
  17. Marble is a gem!! the fishing use to be a little better and it can be a little hard to wade and access. There are alot of solid granite shut ins and pools that can be slick as cat sh** and if you ever wade above Marble Rec area be careful my buddy lives upstream from there and is a "Prater" waiting to happen.
  18. Aw, man that sucks!!!! been there done that man I wish you still had that camera you could have a sweet unused shell for it.....just trying to get rid of it to someone that fishes
  19. It's really too bad no one here has this camera because this is a killer case for that camera. I guess I will go thru the trouble of trying to pawn it off on Ebay.......that is if none of you want this case for FREE???
  20. Yup, there's nothing like a breast of fresh air, err, uhm, a breath of fresh butt to lift your spirits... you were worried about me thinking of your anuses while I was at work while you and E and Chief are huffing each other's fresh asses out on the creek all weekend GO MFU!!!! what's another word for pirate treasure????? BOOTY
  21. If someone on this forum has a Canon SD 770 IS camera specificly, I have something really cool you can have. I had that camera and it was stolen from our table at an outdoor cafe while our family was at a large dinner. I have an accessory item that is worth $250.00 and will allow you to film underwater with full functionality and provide a shock resistant shell. If you have this camera pm me and I will give it to you.....I am in the St.Louis area. I would like to see someone from this forum use this item and take some fish photos rather than it collecting dust in my fisherman's dude den. here is the itemMy link I hope one of you can cash in on my gracious attitude today
  22. Cricket, I love ya just not in the tender sort of way, more in a river fishing guru sort of way. I think you gentleman acted very well that day on the stream. I didn't hear anyone beeing smartasses. If I would have joined you fellas for that float that day, I would have most likely been locked up in a Newton County cell. You guys handled yourselves just right from what I saw and heard. E, I couldn't find your spelling???? it's good to see you posting againa·nusplay_w2("A0354900") (ns) n. pl. a·nus·es The opening at the lower end of the alimentary canal through which solid waste is eliminated from the body.[Middle English, from Latin nus, ring, anus.]hm()The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition copyright ©2000 by Houghton Mifflin Company. 23. I totally agree with you on this one Pete but, it always seems like I agree with most of the stuff you say.I mostly like your funny stuff....which we need much more of on here I keep having visions of this Prater tool telling Cricket and Jason to get their asses up in the woods boys, after Jason had just asked....well sir, what is that you require of us???? Then after Prater and the boys had their way with Cricket's and Jason's pretty mouths and tender anuses, Chief pulls up on the sandbar and sticks Prater with an arrow, a perfect heart shot and this scares the boys into the fields. Then the real fun begins as our OAF guys have to fight there way out of the Shoal Creek valley back to civilization. I'm kidding guys!!!! just bored at work.......I can't wait for the new outfitter on that creek to start releasing canoes above this turd sandwiches property....poetic justice
  24. Oh come on.....puuuleeaassee. I don't think the "SEALS" are playing with his corpse. I do think they should have shoved what was left of his head up a pig's butt and dropped Osama and the pig over Afganistan somewhere. The guy did not deserve any burial rights in accordance to the Muslim world. OSAMA = cowardly terrorist......he ran out of warm bodies to hide behind. Quote Martin Luther King Jr. all you want even though that's not his name, your quotes won't stop radical Muslims from wanting death to Americans or stop them from taking westerner's hostage and cutting their heads off on camera. The radical Muslims of the world want America to go down in flames and it seems like some of the young people in this country and on this forum want that as well.
