That's Tea Party......hopefully you're not to intimate with the Tea Bag term???? I think it's funny how generally the left is okay with associating Tea Bagging with the Tea Party. If people on the right were to make a play on words about Democrats with such a vile, disgusting act such as that MSNBC, CNN and every other liberal news outlet would be crying bloody murder. Sorry Chief, polictical rant over..........I totally agree with you on this by the way other than the tea bagger term.

Gavin is correct, after contacting Rick Stream from the 94th district, whish is mine, he confirmed just what Gavin is saying. Apparently this turd sandwich intros this same bill every session and it never even gets scheduled to hit the floor for discussion much less a vote. Rick assured me it will never happen and not to worry about it. He is a member of my parish and a friend so I trust him when he tells me something. I wouldn't loose any sleep over this one. Represenative Cauthorn seems like a real POS!!!!! some of these elected politicians never cease to amaze me. $35,000 a year with benefits for a part time job....I think I know how we save Missouri some money

Brian, I love that Luck"E"strike bait as well, I started using those last year.It took me a few times to get use to how to use them but once I did man they produce big fish it seems to me.they seem to really work on the Meramec???? mabey it's just the luck I'm having with them????That's cool that you make your own Buzz baits, they are truly a fun bait to fish. -
I'm an insurance agent and I represent Anthem, which was BlueCross BlueShield the biggest health insurance company in Missouri.I also deal with Golden Rule which was United. Depending on your age you won't beat $263.00 a month unless you want really high deductibles and an 80% coinsurance. With the new Health Insurance mandate that was forced thru with out beeing read or discussed with any real debate you should all expect everyone of your health insurance premiums to skyrocket. No one can be denied for health reasons but you bet your sweet butt the will be a price to pay.The regional rep for Missouri with Anthem showed us things coming down the pipe in the next year that will make your checking account shrink like frightened turtles head back into it's shell. Oh well I guess everyone will be able to get insurance if they have the money that is. Think about it if you force every health insurance company to not be able deny the worst risks in a huge pool of individuals, you don't think they are going to raise the rates?????not to mention the goverment lifted the restictions on what these copmnies can charge you but we will all have gauranteed insurability. I do know you should keep your current coverage if you have it because you don't want the mandated coverage that hasn't been implemented to this point but since no one read the bill we really just don't know. It will be astonomicly priced trust me unless you are on welfare of course then you will get credits to pay for it and the rest of us who have income and pay taxes will foot the difference like Nancy Pelosi said herself we'll just have to wait and see whats in this bill.....trust her she is working for your best intrest

Rod Storage In A Canoe
Smalliebigs replied to tjulianc's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Man, I get jealous of how you have customized that rig!!!! I really wish I could modify my new pack angler seat area like yours, higher seating, very nice......Ah, but I suck with tools and usually pay someone to fix things for me....so how much would you take to alter my new canoe???? name the price, E. Scott -
Joe, I have done Quetico twice with the same outfitter My link I like these guys because they will provide everything you need or if you insist on bringing your own stuff other than fishing equipment they will discount the price off what you bring up there. The bottom line in my opinion to do Quetico right you will need a little assitance from an outfitter...just my opinion and heres why. When I went up there I was only wanting to catch Smallies and some areas and lakes don't have the population of smallies you are going to want. Some lakes are loaded with Pike and thats just about all you will catch there. These guys when I told them I wanted smallies flew me into an area further north out of Ely, MN that was a smallie palyground we caught a few pikes but we averaged about 80 smallies a day beteween me and my uncle some would push 5 pounds. We chose the complete kevlar outfit which provided us with everything from a satilite phone to detailed topo trip maps for our journey. Some people would rather rough it a little more but I didn't want to haul the amount of gear they provide with this outfit. Man have fun and your in for a trip of a lifetime!!!! P.S. try to go before the mosquitos hatch up there otherwise you will be a giant blood bank it can get kind of crazy back up in there.

Your a lucky man for making that purchase and your are correct Texas rig them with a 1 or a 2 offset worm hook with a black brass bullet. You only need Green Pumpkin for the color on the Arkie crawlining fry. Alot of guys I have talked to that have used the crawling fry said that it didn't produce for them like they wanted. I always use black brass on the rivers and streams, brass clicks better than lead when it hits rocks and gravel, it might be my little goofy trait but I'm not going to stop a good thing.I also found my friends who use this bait swim it and really work the bait in.....this not what you want to do with crawling fry.It is most effective, if you ask me when you literally don't move it, let any current or stream flow move it for you.Keep your slack up but only very, very small movement of the crawling fry is needed for it to really do it's stuff. I love this bait so much I might have 100 bags of them in my garage just incase they decide to quit making them. I have had alot of people say that it is no good but thats fine with me, nobody use them they suck, I just hope my buddy Chris keeps making them. -
Sweet!!! Gavin, very nice job, your a cool dad.Hey, by the way do you and Coldwater ever take the kids floating and then camp on the river??? I was wanting to get my daughter Emily around some kids who like to hit the river. I might be jumping the gun a bit she's only 18 months but, I thought you told me you guys hit the river with your daughters.Emily loves sitting in the boat, canoe, and kayaks in the garage, it's one of her favorite things to do.

Gary, I have used those and I have black and a color close to green pumpkin seed.Case is a good company the problem I have had with those Helgi's is they a bit to small and hard to rig with a hook unless you wacky rig them. They still work okay but I wish they were bigger.Helgramite's swim if that's what you want to call it with a kind of inch worm rolling unjulation, which is very hard to mimic with a bait. Most of the time they are stuck up under a rock in current. The case Helgi's are really good if you find a nice Goggle hole and then they are a deadly bait.Real Helgramites are a bitch to get on a hook they can pinch you with their butt and mouth, they will get ya on both ends The larvel stage of a Dobson fly is a little bad butt.Back in the day my grandpa would siene up crawdads, Helgramites and minnows on the Big Piney with me and we would oviously catch a ton of nice fish. That was then and this is now and I don't bait fish for bass anymore but, once my grandpa reeled in a smallish bass. When he lifted the little bass up out of the water to our amazement the fish wasn't hooked he was beeing held there by the Helgramites front pinchers.I know this sounds like me and my grandpa were smoking something on the river that day but it's true, the bass was only about a 7 inch fish. Smallie's believe it or not?????? Gary, the soft plastics I use on the river are made by an old tournament friend who started a company in Louisiana by the name of Arkie. His company has really made it big now.He makes a bunch of cool baits that work great for smallies...unintential on his part because he does not fish for smallies. The Arkie crawling fry is like crack to a smallie when presented the right way. They use to be in walmart but not anymore.Another good company for great smallie baits is V&M.They have baits like the Okie swamp bug and all of their plastics are made with pork and salt. I also have to mail order their stuff but well worth it believe me.I also buy plastics from some smaller guys online that make some really wild baits, you really have to search them forever to find them though. -
I'm with Gavin on this one....Maxima, it's great mono and they make 3lb all though it's hard to find. I truly love Maxima....great line.

It's sooo true brother.....my buddies just give me grief about some of the soft plastic creature baits I use. Personally I think the two most important things to river fishing are observation and patience. Both are very broad terms and cover a huge area of fishing when it comes to rivers. Chief have you had the young one out yet or do you wait until school is out??? -

Two things, one, Aftershock I totally agree with you on the Black Spinner bait thing at night. I use that that method on the lower Big an Meramec at night in the summer and your right hold on.I also use the black spinner bait @ Kentucky Lake, pre spawn, in the first 4 hours of darkness and only for about two weeks out of the year. You have to be on the LBL side of the lake in the first five bays from the darn.Slow roll a Black spinnerbait as close to the bank as you can and hold on!!!!! the smallies average 3 to 4 pounds and a few 5's every night...lots of fun. Mitch, if you are out there I am making you go with me to chase the pig smallies @ Kentucky pre spawn this year. Two, Al, I tried your removal of the larger bearing in a Sammy 85 and wow what a difference!!!!! The bait walks like a dawg!!!! I used it this sunday on the lower Meramec and actually caught three fish. It is abundantly clear it makes this bait walk way better, thanks for the tip Al !!! With out sounding like a biotch, I use whatever I have the most confidence in at the time, which varies a great deal.I deffinitely don't limit myself with what I will throw at a smallie. It seems like I always have two rods all the times, one with a bait that will get the most agressive fish in the water column, like a Sammy or a LC G splash or even a twitching, popping thang called a Chug Bug. The other rod will always have a soft plastic on it for the fish that follow and won't hit the topwater. The baits I use on the bottom are not your typical river baits like crawdads or trick worms, I use a lot of goofy creature baits some of you on here would find stupid but they seem to produce huge smallies.I always use a soft plastic bait that is extremely soft and long that has no real action, something that you can't swim.I always let the river dictate the motion of my soft plastics, the current is your motion.I virtually never carolina and almost always Texas rig on the river. -
Eric, I couldn't agree more, why do feel the need to lable people who fish opening day at the trout parks "crazies"??? That's pretty shallow OTF, my boy E, get's pile driven by you guys for much less.

A Question About The Black Bass Season
Smalliebigs replied to ozark trout fisher's topic in Conservation Issues
Al, I was about to mention that the St Francis is making a come back withe population of smallies.I noticed it in 2009 and in 2010, I'm anixous to float it this spring when the levels are right. I have also seen a huge increase in smallies in the Salt River in the last two years......just my opinions....two positive things from me so it doesn't sound like I'm bitching all the time -
A Question About The Black Bass Season
Smalliebigs replied to ozark trout fisher's topic in Conservation Issues
Al, I agree with you so much on this one it makes want to cry. I'm not that old but, I remember fishing with my dad and grandpa on the lower Big and Meramec and really hammering some trophy Smallies back in the late 70's and early 80's. You can still find them in those areas but you really have to work your tail off.The one that crushes me is the Big River, we use to have days on the Big that kids today would not believe if you told them.I remember guys catching several 20 inch Smallies from Castlewood Park to the Big on the Meramec Times Beach @ Eureka use to offer great bank fishing for bass, or even Shady Beach out of St.Clair. Oh well, that was then and now we have Asian Carp and little punk Spots everywhere. -
duuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh.........sorry I was just wanting to help someone with some cats on the Missouri My dad lives in Baxter...............I'm not going into the T-rock catfish thing jugfishing near the KC bridge???? I hope it's in a cove

First, you need a decent depth finder if you don't know any specific spots already. You need to be looking for contours in the river channel where the water is moving, not in any coves. You are looking for any contours that change at least 4 feet, there will be eddys that form on the back side of these contours and debris will usually collect there as well just a bit.The big Blues will hold on the back side of the eddys. These spots can be hard to find sometimes but, once you do the Blues will hold there at one point threw out the day everyday. You should always posistion your boat upstream and anchor and cast down to them, above the eddy if you can. This can be very dangerous for a novice boater, in the Missouri River.Always carry an extremely sharp knife on you at all times when kayaking and boating if you are going to anchor in current.Always pay attention to your anchor line and know the rules of boating in a marked river channel with bardge traffic. Joe, you need to go get yourself an 8 foot throw net and learn the art of throwing a net.the skipjack herring and small sunfish are the best bait for big Blues and Big Flathead.I usually use cut bait for the Blues and put live bait on for the Flatheads. You are not going to catch many Flatheads in the river channel, as they like structure and less flow a little more.We use anywhere from a 5 ounce to a 10 ounce weight. We use 65lb Powerpro braid, it's the cheapest and hold on.we catch some monster out the Missouri. It's a dangerous river for some though.

Coolest Trout Stream You've Ever Fished
Smalliebigs replied to ozark trout fisher's topic in General Angling Discussion
Sweet a Zeppelin stream now that's killer....I want to go there. Unfortunately the stream that runs thru our land use to sound like your stream Chief but, goofy crap upstream has destoyed some of it's alure. Some years when the Meramec floods the right way the stream gets replenished with thousands of fish from the river, including a heap of smallies looking for cover I could only assume. They hold in the creek until a gully washer sends them back to the river.Until that happens the lower end of Brazil creek will provide some of the best smallie stream fishing you wil find anywhere. Ah, but the right set of circumstances have to occur for this to happen so don't all you guys jump in your trucks and head to my back yard but when it does, Brazil creek becomes something that your dreams can only think of.
