    If you use a couple split shot, not only can you position your indicator considerably lower, but your flies will also get to the desired depth quicker and stay there longer. Also, I generally make a couple drifts right in close to me so I can watch and see how my rig is acting under the water, I have learned lots by doing this. If you try it just be sure and do it before the fish stack up at your feet if you are at Taney or someone might question your ethics .

    I would make light of the situation, give them a shout about your wife telling you you had to be home at X time, so you've got to run and gun. Also tell them you will wait to fish until you get well in front of them to fish so the fish have time to settle before they make it down to the fish. If you stop to eat and pass them again say "here comes speedy again" or something like that. As long as you acknowledged you were passing and made a comment that we could share a laugh about I wouldn't care if you passed me. Just my sentiment.

    Glad to hear he is hooked! I am VERY happy with my TFO Pro series and would not hesitate to purchase any TFO rod, especially for a kid with their warranty. Also, with budget in mind, hit up Bass Pro about a combo with White River gear. I got a Hobbs Creek One reel, backing line and leader for an add'l $20.

    I haven't had cable for two and a half years. We do get the channels the you used to be able to pick up with rabbit ears for free through our apartment complex though, so all I see is news. The only channels I even miss are ESPN, Discovery, History and The Outdoor Channel (and TBS now for the playoffs).

    AT LEAST HE DIDN'T MAKE A DRUG DEAL WITH AN UNDERCOVER POLICE OFFICER.... BEEN A LOT OF STORIES ABOUT IT ON THE NEWS LATELY. CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? GOOD. (sorry everyone else for yelling, Cricket probably has a couple pink and white marabou jigs in his ears)

    I am not in the same boat as you, but in one on the same stream. The plan offered at my work is absolute crap. It covers very little. I am shopping myself. I have seen rates a LOT better than what I expected. Have a few different agents give you quotes and let them know you are shopping multiple agents. I will echo what others have said about reading the fine print. Also Aflac is decently priced for the benefits you can get from it. I have it and may end up going with it only for a while and carrying "full" coverage on the wife and kid.

    In all of my immaturity and inexperience I can tell no marked difference, but I don't believe I have used it in any lengths over 7'. I have not, as of yet. It is on my list to try. I hate paying $10-14 for 50 yds of tippet.

    If I stand alongside Taney holding a piece of cardboard with "will net fish for seat in boat" scribbled on it in Sharpie will one of you guys pick up a trout bum (pun intended)? Can use your net or my own!
