  1. Big Trout on light line. I have lost two nice trout at the boat due to the line snapping as I reach down to land them.
  2. Anyone have any pros or cons on specific of types of nets for using in the boat. How long or how wide?
  3. Not sure I agree with the interpretation. What happens if you take your step and a half to go up for a layup and someone jumps to block your shot and you drop the ball of to your teammate? Is that a travel because you didn't shoot? Or you shoot an air ball that turns into a pass does it get called a travel because your shot turned into a pass?
  4. I am for this change. Maybe it will get the wildlife officers out of the parking lots and boat ramps and out patrolling the waters and woods and actually observing and catching violators in the act. It doesn't feel right when you pull up to the boat ramp and a wildlife officer detains you and asks to see your license and proceeds to remove all the contents of your boat looking for something illegal ( lead shells, too many shells, plugged guns, etc.) without an ounce of probable cause.
  5. I just saw that gage correction also. Still think it is a little high for fishing this weekend. Going to go to the White and trout fish.
  6. Making plans for a float next weekend and just checked the gauge. There's no way this is right is it?
  7. This morning my Dad and I fished upriver from Rim Shoals. It was our first time throwing zig jigs. I normally throw rapalas or some type of spinner. We both consistently caught fish over the two hours we fished. I will definelty be fishing jigs more often.
  8. Great start to the year. Maybe last year wasn't an aberration.
  9. Nice fish.
  10. We have a group that floats Caver to Tyler Bend every year late April Water is usually good and also the fishing. We never camp the same place for two night as we move along down the river each day. Also have done the Dillards Ferry to White river and that is nice also. Going to maybe do the lower river this year with the Supreme and 9.9 and maybe make a base camp and go up and down river from camp.
  11. I agree on the 42". That's what I have. When you put 3 200 lb guys in there and a 90lb lab if everyone leans the same way it gets a little squirrelly. I am going to upgrade when the kids (3&1) get old enough to start fishing with me regularly. Think I am going with the mats that Phil suggested since I don't plan on having this boat for much longer.
  12. I was checking the seadek material out last night on their website it looks pretty sweet. I had put a material called hyrdoturf in my aluminum duck boat before but havent seen that material in any river boats yet. Thanks for the feedback
  13. Anyone have any suggestion on floor mats (anti fatigue/non slip) for the bottom of a fiberglass trout boat (Supreme)? I was wondering if anyone has put any floor mats or flooring material in their trout boats to one cut down on the wear in high traffic area and to keep out of the water. My lab goes with me a lot and he drags in a gallon or two of water everytime he jumps in and out. I try to keep it sponged up, but often too busy fishing to keep up with it. Been fishing in knee boots over the winter to keep dry.
  14. I fished Saturday afternoon out of Shipps Ferry. The wind was too rough for me to try jigs for the first time. I threw a rapala and a Panther Martin and had good success. Looking forward to learning more about fishing these jigs on the river.
  15. Gas kills more ducks than anything else each year. I never get upset when I have a poor hunt that I didn't scout the day before.
  16. Awesome hunt.
  17. New pups are great and frustrating at the same time. Mine just turned two and the light bulb has come one strong this year. Hunting the river on Friday and we killed two gadwalls one belly up in the decoys and one out in the current still moving. He ran right past the first one and made the retrieve on the longer one. Came back and ran right to the one in the decoys. Good luck the rest of the season.
  18. John, I never hunt in the rain either, but my buddy talked me into it. My laundry room is full of wet gear.
  19. With only a few ducks seen on the river Saturday thought the lake would be the ticket on Sunday. Only a couple weekends left in the season so no matter what the weather we were determined to go. On the way out we jumped 20-30 ducks right off the point we planned to hunt. The fire of anticipation was quickly doused by the constant rain. Nothing flew besides a pair of gadwalls that landed right in our lap. The Fat lady is warming up.
  20. Decided to burn a vacation day on Friday with the freezing temps. A buddy and I headed to the river to try our luck. Got set up and at fist light they were dumping in faster than we could shoot and get the dog back to the bank and shoot again. With the current we had to wait for the dog to make the retrieve and get back before shooting again and only shooting one or two out of a group. We finished up around 8:30. I was planning on scouting Friday afternoon for the hunt Saturday, but had a sick kid. Went back to the same place on Saturday and only got two. Great way to spend a vacation day.
  21. Nice hunt.
  22. Any road win is a nice win in conference. I held my breath through the last minute. Beard looked good at the point. Portis is solid. If they play like expected at home and sneak out a couple more road wins they will be dancin'.
  23. Nice hunt. Do you think they will keep the roost open through these single digit temps? Dry field mallard hunt is just slightly ahead of a good flooded timber hunt in my book of favorite hunts.
  24. Are you headed to DD? I remember from posts in the past you hunt down there some. Water levels look great for some of the out of the way places. Good luck. Wish I was headed that way, but going to stick around home.
  25. Got our on Sunday and only killed 2. Gonna take off Friday and try to get after them.
