  1. All that said, to me, it still doesn't beat catching a Muskie at Caplinger....
  2. ...I see $$$$ here...protective fishing cups...just strap it on and fish with confidence...you'd look cool too...as seen on TV, Nutcups, but wait theirs more!!!!!
  3. ...tying your own can is fun and can be as expensive or inexpensive as you want...think roadkill...
  4. ...and as a kid, you can cast a spoon a mile, and that's just fun!!
  5. I actually couldn't tell you what rods and reels I own...they all work great...
  6. Has it caught a fish yet?
  7. Get in the river, and just let a Wooly Bugger swing in the current. Lift and let it drift back. Minimal casting and a great way to catch fish and get the feel of the rod...
  8. I am not a huge spoon fisherman, but recently was bored, and tied one on and immediately my day got better. It was a hot afternoon on the river and fishing was very average. I didn't catch anything big, but12" smallmouth were really on it. Spoons seem to be mostly a lake bait, and I was wondering if anyone else has tried them on river smallmouth? I know I'll be experimenting more, as soon as the rivers go down some......
  9. Wrench threw a wrench in my rainy day dreaming!!!!
  10. ...and it's still rising...Good news, I have noticed a big jump in size of fish this year with all the water, not length so much, but thickness of fish, though I have caught my biggest Brown and Rainbow in the last 2 weeks...this fall and winter should be great fishing...
  11. ...and rising...may be a while...
  12. Thompson Buoyant spoon....
  13. ..I've spent literally 1,000's of hours on area rivers over the past 40 years and have yet to see one boob flashing. While fishing, a vast majority of floaters have given me more than adequate room. I rarely go out on weekends, and when I do, it's a Sunday not a Saturday. I always make a nice comment as people go by and they almost always smile and move on past. Just my experiences...
  14. ...I was on the river Tuesday, after getting 2.25 inches of rain over here near Bolivar and it was absolutely perfect...
  15. ...Yep...
  16. ...stick to the tennis shoes...
  17. ..fly fishing is a funny thing...some of us like to "fool" a fish in to taking a fly...some of us like to get the "reaction" strike...some of us do both...personally, i'm about an 80% reaction type fly and 20% "imitating a natural food source fly"...either way SNAP IT!!!!
  18. ..they seem to be plentiful this year...and FAT too...
  19. ...I just make stuff up...but the closest would be some sort of hopper or Elk Hair Caddis....
  20. I fish Stockton and the Niangua River, both about a 45 minute drive @ 15mpg...so Stockton $15.00 plus a few gallons in the boat...so $30 in fuel...Niangua $15 to $20...not that bad really...I only go once a week usually...
  21. Absolutely agree with Matt...much more fun stripping soft hackles or streamers than staring down a bobber...
  22. Thumbs up if "speedo" brought you here....
  23. I put in at Barclay and kayaked upstream about 2 miles...fishing all the way up and back...spent much more time in the water than the kayak...
