  1. Have been talking with COE, MoParks and Fitzpatrick about this for the last couple months and you see the result. I think the lock was put on by COE but they claim that park is leased to MoParks. MoParks says its COE. Fitzpatrick says its COE but "trying" to get some long term lease to MoParks. I'm really p...ed as I spent $ 80.00 for COE pass and MoParks pass and can't use either one at Viney. Only thing I can recommend is to complain to COE, MoParks and Scott Fitzpatrick, I've a whole file of emails but nothing has changed. Last but not least I think lock pick will work. Somebody picked it once but lock was replaced.
  2. My granddaughter wanted to buy these for me. I respectively declined.
  3. https://mostateparks.com/search/node/viney%20creek%20launch%20fees. This is the link to launch fee info. Viney is a bureaucratic mess. Have talked with COE, MoParks and state legislators. Right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing. A real shame for a real nice park and good launch area.
  4. Go to MoParks for Viney Creek. Scroll down to boating. Outlines $ 5.00/launch or $ 40.00 annual fee which, after much discussion turns out to be approximately 4 months. MoParks, I guess, defines annual as what ever they want.
  5. Talk about launch access fees. Have launched out of Viney creek for 10+ years. 2015 bought $ 40.00 COE annual pass then COE decided they were not going to run campground. State parks decided they would run park but would not honor core pass. State annual launch pass $ 40.00. As of 2016 Parks dept decided to lock access to park. My passes are good for 4 more months. Contacted both for refund or preferably open access. All I get is the run around, $80.00 in access fees and no access. Ain't it a great world.
  6. Viney creek gate is locked again ( just love the COE lol). Water clarity is about 18 inch's and most debris is big stuff not too bad.
  7. Lot of debris coming down lake between Owl creek and big M.
  8. Sore Thumbs, guess I owe you an apology. My intent was to save you a little drive time. Secondly, I have put in at arrow point 3/4 times per yr. over the last 10 yrs and haven't had a problem except for parking especially on wknds because lot is crowded. Just lucky I guess? Viola and 39 are superior and I am sure that you never see strange people around those ramps and I'm sure there is not a " nest of scumbags " in those areas. Merry Christmas and good fishing.
  9. Can also put in at Arrow Rock ( end of hiway Ra) out of Golden. Used to be park area. Not fancy but a lot of guys put in there.
  10. Oh ya, what memories. I think I fished every strip pit within 10 miles of Pittsburg from Mccune to state line and Scammon to Arma. First by bicycle and when I could drive used my 8ft. jon boat ( brand new for $45.00 with oars). At that time all you might need is permission from farmer to cross his land. Too bad acess is limited now.
  11. Quillback or any body else throwing a jig, sure would like to have information on your catch. First part of month couldn't get a jig in the wter without getting bit. Last week haven't done squat with a jig. Made adjustments( structure type, color, depth) without luck. Last one I caught on jig was in 39ft.deep brush pile. Can't get it figured out!
  12. Have a Brute model 750, 41# thrust 12/24 ft. controlled.
  13. Golden, Mo. 417-271-0407
  14. Older 48# thrust, 12/24, bow mount foot control. $25.00
  15. Put in at Viney and went toward Owl Creek. Didn't have the numbers, only caught 10 but all were keepers 2-3# range. Jig, crank and chatter bait. Main lake runouts in15 ft. and less.
  16. Consider yourself lucky (lol). Being retired I fish tablerock at least 4 times a week. I consider a decent day as a fish for every 1/2 hr on the water. Try a fish about every 2 hrs since July. Fish from Roaring river to Kings. Fishing in this section of the lake picking up pretty good.
  17. Fished from Viney to mouth of Kings today. Since the last month has been a real fishing drag for me I wanted to give my waypoints one last try before starting over again. Plan was to check each waypoint, fan casting. No fish then eliminate waypoint and start over. Low and behold they are paying off again. Caught at least 2 fish at each mark with a total of 20 or so. Not anything big but nice K's and LM. Caught on watermelon red paddle tail swim bait and swimming a jig, all in that 15-20 range. Interesting thing about jig wasn't color but seemed to like trailers with long pincers rather than short. Water clarity is better ( 5+ ft). Temp running 77/78 degrees.
  18. Sometimes you got to eat a little crow. After meeting with Mo. parks people I understand that Viney Creek went under COE control as of Monday 9/14/15. Thanks for listening to my "rants". Now to deal with COE.
  19. Daily launch fee at Viney this year was $ 5.00 per day. Yearly pass for launch was $ 40.00. COE launch fee was $ 30.00.
  20. Gate locked at main road. Can't access any ramp.
  21. Hasn't been closed for launching at any time { except for the budget thing last year) during the time I have used the launch. That's why I purchase yearly launch pass.
  22. Went to Viney Creek to launch today ( as I have done for the last 20 yrs winter and summer) but as I arrived they were locking the gate because the park was closed. I asked why but the fellow didn"t have a clue. Indicated that a meeting was to be held at Melton Center 9/16/15 @ 6:30. I could AGAIN express my views at this meeting and also find out how they would refund the money I paid for a yearly launch pass. Got 4 hrs on the water between Owl Creek and Viney. Water little stained, 76/81 degrees. Caught 4 with largest just shy of 5# on bluff ends with swim jig.
  23. Shumaker in Golden has ProGuide.
  24. Put in at 6 this am. Started with squarebill and spinerbait. No go so went to bushes (willows) with nutech and grub trailer. Finally good decision! Fish are in the bushes here. Didn't get out to main lake. Off at 10:30. Ended with 16 bites and 12 landed. 3 keeper size and one of those "one that got away" fish. Water 85,visibility 3-5 ft. Fishing in 10-15 ft, submerged willows. Fish hitting bait in upper part of bush. Nothing after jig settles to base.
