  1. This is what I like to do with huspuppies, great for 2 to 3 people. 1/2 cup cornmeal 1/4 cup flour 1/2 onion chopped 1 egg salt and pepper jalepeno-optional whole corn-optional moisten with beer, but not too much, if you add too much beer just add more of the other stuff as well
  2. its cool, just thought I would throw that in so people reading this thread might keep in mind that me and my buddy will always be fishing in our canoes on 11pt and jets running upstream as the current pushes us down is always something that we have to be aware of. I appreciate jet owners taking the same consideration for us that we are forced to take. If there ever was a collision, my canoe and I, or my friend and his, would surely lose. thanks for letting me throw that out there.
  3. Nice fish. All I ask is that you don't run over me while Im in my canoe, Ive had some close calls on the 11 pt with jet jerks, seems people dont care about river etiquette and just zoom by you at full speed with no regard. Nothing ruins a serene environment more than a loud motor getting closer and closer, seemingly coming right at you, and you dont even know if the guy sees you or not. It can be nerve racking and to be honest, pisses me off. Please respect the canoes and good fishing.
  4. beautiful
  5. I dont know about using garlic, but one time I had raccoon rooting around in my stuff and he took a big bite out of my onion. If I hadnt run him off I think he would have eat the whole thing.

  16. Wow, I didnt realize it was that far! How far do you think it is from cow to lobo and/or swingin to lobo?
  17. sounds like a good day hoglaw. You are right, this board doesn't get a lot of attention. As a kid, every summer my family and I camped at lobo landing and I kind of feel like I grew up there. One thing Ive never done that I want to do this summer is float from JFK park down to lobo, maybe even further. I like dripping springs, always fun to wadefish out there in the summer.
  18. Fishing with live bait has got to be one of the biggest killers. When the bait tastes like real food, the fish are going to try and swallow it as quickly as possible and often get guthooked. I'm not totally against fishing with live bait, but it is the angler's responsibility to be ready to set the hook as soon as you feel that nibble, if you practice catch and release. I think there are a lot of people fishing who do not understand that a fish is in a state of shock when you fight it to exhaustion and and pull it out of the water. This is a video of an idiot who I'm sure killed this pregnant smallie by walking around with it and not puttin it back in the water in time. This was posted on youtube, how many people catch a good smallie and parade around celebrating while the fish is near death? Probably way too many. There just isnt any video footage.
  19. I caught this little guy in a small pool next to a rapid on Big Piney Creek, AR a few weeks ago. Put him on a hook but no bites.
  20. Sounds like a great day on the water, Im jealous of your proximity to these rivers
  21. Saw this article in the newspaper Sunday, thought it was interesting. I hope Conway Corp will at least consider EVERYTHING that will be affected by its new sewer treatment plant so as to not kill off a prehistoric species of Arkansas, the Aligator Gar. http://thecabin.net/news/local/2010-08-30/gar-expert-asks-impact-study-conway-corp%E2%80%99s-wastewater-plans
