  1. BH - I don't think my plants understand country boy talk - you think I should try French?
  2. Perhaps for you. Sixty miles should not make that much difference but my garden did not get it done this summer. Very small maters, almost no peppers, a few green beans & cucumbers. Hope fall crop will produce better. Did you have a baby setter for your pig & hum. birds while you all were out West?
  3. FW - Name it Jack.
  4. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that has to buy all four items for a BLT.
  5. What a crappy year. I think my soil needs a rest and a big dose of compost. Will probably forego a fall garden. Except for early crops this year, this year has been a bust for me also.
  6. I wonder if he is above the law also?
  7. It must be the Kansas water that makes you that way.
  8. Welcome to the Ozarks. Wind blown banks this fall with shad type baits will usually get some white bass. Other guys can give you some exact places I am sure. Tom
  9. They used to leave the cabin & the dock key on the table in the cabin. They live right there.

And be sure it is not a Wood Duck hen. It is easy to do - I know that for a fact! Hey -DD. good to hear from you.
  11. Phil - Yes. I saw it for several days - sometimes said something about unfriended or other facebook messages.
  12. They sell ant blockers that go between the hook and the feeder. I make them out of empty tuna fish cans, an I-bolt thru the middle with "o" rings under each nut to seal it. Fill with liquid cooking oil. No more ants (the little birds do not like them).
  13. Holy Cow! Back to the store to buy more sugar I bet. My H.B.s are very few this year (four sighted at one time is the most I have seen). Not birdie in my neck of the woods this year. Cool vid.
  14. Have you all seen any hens with this years hatch? I live between Springfield & Nixa on James River with a field behind my house. Almost every day I see several hens feeding but no chicks with them. Can not remember a year like this in the past. A lot of deer with twins but no baby turkeys.
  15. Ned rig just below Bull Island & along the steep bank for about a 100 yards.
  16. When duck hunting down there we stay at Duck Harbor. Not fancy but it has always been clean with everything we needed. A plus is it comes with a boat stall for free. Check their web site.

    What's Cooking?

I think that is the difference between a great cook and a chef.
  18. At last, I got my fill of BLT's this week. Picked seven yesterday along with a bunch of plum tomatoes. Too wet here but at least I can't (or won't) have to mow.

BH - worked great after a one minute down load - very clear. Guess you have my birds this year & some of this year's hatch. Good job. I am still fighting the woodpeckers. I have one feeder exactly like yours that I had to cut the perch off to keep the peckers off. The next step is to see if the Downey WP tastes like chicken.

    What's Cooking?

That looks super good. Did you have trouble butchering that hog you had in your raised garden?

BH - No beer--- when is the funeral?
  22. You win by about two weeks.
  23. I was always told that if you could have ripe tomatoes by Independence Day's picnic you were doing good. You guys are ahead of that by a bunch. Mine will have to hurry to make the deadline.
  24. You river bank campers need to get a U.S. Military poncho liner. You can find them at surplus stores or order them from Midwayusa. They are light weight, fast drying & fold up smaller than a basketball. That and a sleeping pad (also mil. surplus) makes for a pretty good night.
