  1. Gonna get to look at the St. Croix rods tomorrow and noticed they have 1, 2 and even 3 piece rod options. I am going for a 6'6" rod and honestly have had very very few 2 piece rods in my lfe, and I missing anything. I almost never break a rod (that will jinx me for sure), so not sure that a 2 piece would benefit me any. The rod is theoretically destined for a Ned type rod, but more likely will become a walleye, goggle-eye, smallie, or even back up crappie rod. Any thoughts on 1 piece vs. 2 piece.
  2. After six days either you survive on your own and make it out on your own. Or you become part of landscape. I didn't see where they had even postulated on a cause of death, could have been a bear, drowning, heart attack, stoke, aliens, murder, suicide, plain old accident etc. If I had to go (and assuming it wasn't a gruesome painful death), going out while fishing in Alaska, well it could be worse.
  3. Heck they looked for 6 days for him.
  4. Very nice!
  5. Personally I want one that has the "arts and Crafty" Tony Romo face on it.
  6. I am not familiar with the ramp you are talking about Bass Enforcer Call the COE office and ask them. It should be open to the public.
  7. Put my wally back.
  8. It appears to be a simply adminstrative error someone made when copying the data over. SM and ST are easily to get mixed up, Pomme (PT) gets mixed up with Pomona (PO) often enough. It happens. I have notified them and if it doesn't get fixed let me know and I will follow up on it.
  9. we must not be looking at the same list/map then, because on the link from teh COE site I posted each location has a separate identifiable code. Stockton is all ST, Smithville is SM, Pomme is PT etc. ST-7 is the 245 Bridge on Stockton, SM 7 is at the eastern W bridge on Smithville, PT 7 is at the tower on Pomme. I just popped over to the linked site to look again, they have inadvertently copied Smithville info onto the Stockton site, I will see if I can get that corrected.
  10. No worries, my mistake changed the entire meaning of the post.
  11. Did they change the location numbers? Those numbers correspond with Smithville Lake, http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/WaterQuality.aspx
  12. I must apologize my thumbs or mental defect caused an incorrect post on my part. It was supposed to say "I hope they DID NOT ripout the big cats throat. Lancer until you quoted me I would have put $100 bet on what I said. I shall correct it. I put way more value on a 40 pounder catfish than I do a 4 pound bass..
  13. Its quite possible that some grass carp (white amur) got washed out of ponds etc. They are generally longer and more torpedo shaped than regular carp. Take a bowfishing rig along and stick one, and see for sure what it is.
  14. Hope they didnt rip that catfish's throat/stomach open when they pulled a dead bass out of its gullet.
  15. They are correct in that the subdivision ramps are required to be open to the public. However that doesn't stop some of the homeowners in the area from attempting to restrict it, or just being jerks. Also seldom are those ramps of the size and parking space of the COE ramps. Although some are better.
  16. Man that kind of Smallmouth action is giving me a nervous tic. . . .. . . ..
  17. I used to put a couple of offset/safety pin spinners (usually #2 but occasionall #3) in my shirt pocket and a half dozen or so curly tail grubs from 2-3" in whatever color suited my mood, purple, chartreuse, orange, white whatever and hit the ponds with a light spinning rod and usually 6 lb line, sure spend some memorable times doing that. Things like a very territorial Rhea or maybe it was an Emu not sure (did you know they can growl and scare the living &^%$ out of you) and an overly friendly large horse that if you didn't pet it would gently nudge you about 4 feet into the water, of course that doesnt count things like snake, turtles, wasps and all the other vagaries of life.
  18. Since when did the State begin charging a launch fee anywhere, I didn't think they could. I had to go do a little research, the State Parks I believe are prohibited from charging Entrance Fees, not facility use fees. Also the web page for Viney Creek State park says it closes on Sept. 13th., guess they werent kidding.
  19. Most marinas are fairly secure, however there is the occasional rash of theft from boats. Generally they will take the fast easy to grab stuff, rods, reels, etc. I would definitely take the depthfinder off and either lock it in the boat somewhere. Batteries are another frequent flyer for thefts at times. I suspect you can buy insurance but have no idea the cost.
  20. "Chickened out" and "wanted to set the record straight", doesn't sound the Chief we know.
  21. They ain't bad but they definitely aren't walleye, or goggle eye, or green sunfish, or crappie or frog legs or, well a lot of things. I would much rather catch them again than eat them. But we might kick in a couple warm coors, a cold fish stick, to trade ya Chief.
  22. I would have kicked in a case of good beer to go with the fish dinner.
  23. If two people they would be legal, assuming all fish make the minimum length. Looks like they have spent a few hours on a stringer for sure. Hate to see that.
  24. Apparently I only get to read the first page of topics, anybody figure out a way around that?
