What do ya do when your grill swallows it butt and refuses to work, with no time to fix it before supper, and no parts? You break out the cast iron and go old school that what.
-
Sorry I kind of ran the Pomme and River stuff together. The rivers I was referring to are the Sac up above Stockton Lake, and Below Stockton as well, and the Osage from Osceola to the KS line.

Oh how I remember when my daughter was 14, love but somedays I wasn't sure she was gonna see 15.
-
Thanks Archdale that's either the one or very close to it.

Plan as of last week was to drop down to 500 cfs this week and run 500 through the weekend before going on down to low flow of 50, or possibly 100 cfs, dpending upon Co ditions. But conditions looks good.

Good looking pup there.

There is someone out there that fits each of our needs. Snagged I know you was teasing, so was I hence the smile face.

Well he couldn't have given it all up or he would have had to leave out the rum in the banannas foster. Besides most women need a little hooch just to be married to guys who shake like a dog passing a peach seed as spring fishing season approaches.
-
I can't believe you said get rid of the dog! You can tell a feller he ought to get a divorce and nobody will think anything of it, but tell a feller to get rid of his dog and you are likely to start a fight. The best advice I ever got was, son if you have to choose between a looker and a cooker, remember that you get to eat supper EVERY night, and they just get better at it with age.

Well the sound was delicious. They have dried morels so I am going to say the morels in the soup were dried and reconstituted. The shitakes will be fresh. They grow a fairly wide variety of mushrooms and sell a lot in KC to resturants and I think a farmers market in Spfld. They also have some morel flavored salt, which I am guessing is ground up dried morels mixed with salt. https://squareup.com/store/fungal-fusion. I think this is their page.

The one I bought was a telescoping stick thing with the screw looking thing on the end, think it goes to 18 feet or so which is more the my shad raps will dive to so seems to work well. Almost need two people though , one to control the boat and one to do the retrieval.

Off today for dead presidents day. So I am having a bowl of goat cheese, bacon, leek and morel soup. Truth friends from church have a mushroom farm and recently started up a food truck. The soup was the soup da jour., pretty big thing in a town of 1000 people. Am going back later and get a quart of shitake mushrooms to sautee with supper though. And the beverage of choice for such a soup, Grape Crush soda of course.

Whites and hybrids have usually been a bonus fish for me, have made some HO hum trips into memorable ones when a school of hybrids or big whites come up. Some years ago on Truman while crappie fishing and catching nothing about a quarter mile of the lake exploded, I finally quit using my crappie rod and went to a casting rod with a blue chrome rattle trap. Had more than one try to take the rattle trap away from the one I was fighting at the boat, puking up shad in the boat and not another boat fishing them for 30 minutes of pure amazing before they vanished.

Flicker shad are a good crankbait, but I have an addiction for Shad Raps, unfortunately they are NOT that cheap. I bought a lure retriever a few years ago and paid for it many times since saving my raps from the dangers on Truman.

That little game used fascinate my kids when they were little. They couldn't figure out how I could usually get it down to justone. Of course they pay real close attention, was easy I just cheated when they weren't looking.
-
Don't be surprised if a toothy critter that grabs your lure on Pomme is a walleye. If I were targeting rivers don't discount the western front, the sac upstream from lake and downstream as well, osage river as well has a good population.
-
Heck I may take off work early and throw a rogue from the bank by the dam for a while. Seems like a little early for the dam but gotta do something to cure the fever. Of course if I catch a wally the fever will just get worse. It would take half a day to clear my boat off of all the acumulated junk from winter.

Oh he still wants the sammich, but I didn't have all the stuff and didn't want to drive back to town. Went Saturday morning to get some plastic sheeting to put over my cold frame and ended up spending $150 on groceries.
-
I suspect the ones who might be targeting bigger smallies are not city or out of towners, they are likely very small select group of locals. The city fellers and out of towners likely hit a few by mis-identification. Besides I don't think that gigging draws a lot of tourists.

My son and I are batching so he requested stir fry. Might not be tasty but gonna be colorful for sure.

Billethead that Sammich has my son's attention for sure. Man it looks yummy.

Weekend Game Plan ( Campbell Point to Big Bay )
MOPanfisher replied to BassBlind's topic in Table Rock Lake
After 25 years of working on COE lakes there is no way I would buy a house on the lake with a dock, when I could spend a lot less to live a few miles away, not mess with a dock, keep my boat in a garage so I can hook up minutes and be headed to any part of the lake or a different lake if I want. But that is just me, for many it is their dream and they live it. One thing about fishing close to home is that of the fish or conditions aren't cooperating, heck I go back home and work in the garden or take a nap, whatever. But if I spend the time and effort to make an hour plus trip somewhere I feel like I have to stay and fight it out to see if I can find willing fish. Too much like a job to me at that point. -
To all the guys using common sense and even gasp "biological principles", stop it! Some topics like gigging, C&R only, or Ned rigs are much more interesting without all that silliness. Maybe next week when it get back into the 60s we can get back to fishing.

I never claimed they need to be harvested, but then why do bass need to be caught. Over populating of any species is not a good thing, however not all overpopulation severly damages the food chain by any means, dpending upond several factors. I consider those who gig bass, walleye, catfish, crappie etc. to be no different from the guys who drive the roads day or night and shoot deer just because they can. They are poachers period.
-
You mean like bow hunting, or muzzle loader hunting, or any number of other things that are based upon past traditions. Besides for those who like suckers, myself included, how do you harvest them. I have caught them on bait before in the spring but not consistent enough to be worth targeting them that way.
