  1. Thanks for the report. Nice fish.
  2. Hook: Dai-Riki 270 Size 6 Bead: Plastic to size (you can use metal but it already sinks like a rock) Lead: .015 15-20 wraps Thread: Black Tail: Olive Rubber (mine was left over from a spinner bait) Body: Medium Ultra Wire - Olive (start the tie in on the near side right below the lead and run parallel with the hook. Need a long piece.) Segmenting: Medium Ultra Wire - Black (start the tie in the same but on the other side. The goal is to flatten the profile.) Wing Case: Cream/White Chewy Skin (sorry lost the color name) Legs: red/brown and grizzly hackle Thorax: Pheasant Tail Ice Dub Tip: Fold the legs in half and tie in a loop. Then after completing the fly cut the loop and size accordingly. Tip: Leave a small space between the thorax dubbing and the bead to tie in everything.
  3. When I first read this, I thought you said ...off the bridge.
  4. Like Bill Cosby (Fictional Character) to Theo: "The government comes for the regular people first."
  5. On the menu for tonight. The owner of the pond has asked to take home any catfish that I catch. He complains they eat all the fish food he puts out of the bluegills.
  6. Yea... that is the cousin of the blue cat... the purple cat. Just a little over "auto-correct" in the pic software.
  7. There was some discuss about the best all around panfish slash pond fly. My argument was a large nymph. My fly: First time using it yesterday... I caught a bluegill, large mouth, rock bass, and this beast. Caught it on a three weight with four pound tippet, and it took me forty five minutes to land her. I didn't weigh her, but she came in around 31 inches. She had me in the backing twice. So end the end... I'm just saying
  8. Thought I would share:
  9. One nice thing about knowing the river is you know there are fish there. I never really know if it is a lack of fish or the bait I'm using.
  10. Sneak in some big flat heads
  11. Just get them from the same rivers you fish in.
  12. Yea but only have one eye and your ear fell off last year.
  13. For panfish in shallower water... I don't use a leader. I tie on a five foot piece of four pound clear line. I cast to the spot and let it sink watching the tip of the fly line for movement. If nothing I'll finger twist the fly line a little. If no action, I'll try again or move to the next spot. For deeper water, I will tie on a couple of feet of two pound test to the four or to the hook of the first fly. If there is some top water action, I tie on a beatle or hopper, and drop the fly. Really can't speak to Smallies, but I've caught everything under the sun with this technique. Send me an IM if you want to go out sometime. I'll bring the flies if you have the spots.
  14. I stayed on that river Al when I was there a few years back. My biggest and first brown came out of that water. I always wanted to go upstream and fish the head waters, but didn't get the chance. Slight change of subject.... do you know what happened to the gent who's backyard was cut in half when the river changed course. I always wondered about that.
  15. If I can get away and you have room. I'll come and film the hunt.
  16. I wonder if this will work in bluegill or rockbass
  17. Alright... got room for one more, but enough to start. Due date 15 Nov. Need ten total. MIC - Wire Nymphs Daddy O Lancer09 Ruthead Scott K - Mini Hoppers
  18. I'm not a jig guy to much, that looks real good.
  19. Sorry I mis-counted. Need one more. Scott are you in? MIC Daddy O Lancer09 Ruthead
  20. Historically speaking... why is Lebanon such a hub for manufacturing?
  21. Which ones work better the first flies or the last flies.
  22. How stable are those designs? They sure look like they will cut some water though.
  23. Really only need one more, but two would be better. Come on tiers, how much time does ten bluegill flies take. That is like one beer and a football game.
