    New To Ozark Area

I don't, I'm up in St. Louis. Welcome aboard though.
  2. Very true and accurate assessment.
  3. Interesting... will have to try that out.
  4. That's cool... wonder how it will affect the fishing in that area.
  5. I'm firmly interested in the BPS. Waiting on pics
  6. Hold on... I'm not letting anyone off the hook. I'm addressing the actual question of the thread.
  7. Try number one. Small farm pond know for its bluegill not its bass. Warm day, cloudy. Bluegill were biting on worms under a bobber. Expectations: Low. I tried it all. I did catch one on a three inch smoke with black metal flake just as I started a retrieve. Nothing after that. Tried much of everything else, but nothing worked.
  8. Ok... I'll play devil's advocate here, not for the fool in the pic, but for the actual question of the forum. 1. I can't prove it, but I think it is a safe assumption that catch and release is more common now than 30 years ago. 1a. If we are honest with ourselves, Missourians have had a... not so good relationship with the "feds" and their rules going back to the civil war. I don't think following the rules is ever been a strong point. 2. In 1983 the population in Missouri was around 5 million; in 2013 it is 6 million. That is a lot more people, and there is the same or even less amount of water. 3. I wasn't here, but this forum as told me: 3a. There was a much smaller aluminum hatch 30 years ago. 3b. The banks, bluffs, and river bars were firmer, and thus, there was better habitat. Great habitat equals great fish. 4. Two words... urban sprawl. 5. Jet boats have opened up water to those who wouldn't want to work for it. Equals: more people fishing. My point, this kid and those like him are probably not the primary reason the decline in fishing.
  9. Here is a really good article... on grub fishing. I like the tailless spook thing for heavy weeds. http://www.bassdozer.com/articles/grub-fishing.shtml
  10. Thanks everyone. I'll try to update this thread as I try them out. I'm trying all new with darter heads and (new to me) Kalin's grubs. I'm to try out smoke hologram, pumpkin with green flake, and cotton candy (don't ask why, just seamed like a fishy color). I also got some BPS double tale for hoping the bottom in root beer with black flake. I'm going to take away all my crutches, and only fish with these four and some jigs in a local pond.
  11. Some of you may remember, I've been trying out float tubing for a while. The one negative is I try to limit my tackle gear. So I've been studying around for good multi-purpose items. Lately, I've been really looking at the 3" grub which seems to have falling out of favor, but seems to be a really versatile. One... anyone ever burn a grub in shallow water to use almost like a wake bait. I read about that, and sounds like fun. Two... anyone use them on dart heads? Do they walk underwater with jerks... like a zara spook on top. Three... How many ways do you use them for pond/lake base (or stream), and what are your favorite brands and colors.
  12. I did that when I was kid (bluegill) on a Father Son YMCA trip in the Boundary Waters. Pretty fun actually.
  13. Have fun... post some pics.
  14. Awesome... thanks for sharing
  15. Congrats... that is an awesome fish.
  16. Yes... Just tell the fisherman your guest is handicapped (if not obvious) and they should get out of the way. My dad always uses the one closest to the spring. If you are there when the bell goes off, start with inlines or marabou jigs.... cast towards the tree on the other side and swing out in to the pool and bring in. After that bite slows, try a couple of things. Small jigs or flies under a float. Cast into the current and let it go into the pole. Bounce slowly back up stream once the line is tight. The other is to skip the float, cast into the pool and very slowly swing and retrieve a wet fly or mini jig below a weight back to you through the hole. If you do the flies, use a light leader or line. Dad has the best luck with olive and go deep in the pole. Good luck.
  17. Awesome... How much for a new one?
  18. Man... this is so awesome
  19. Thanks everyone... Is there any suggestions for creek wading in the area?
  20. Are there any rental places?
  21. So my family and I are going to Greers Ferry this weekend. Two quick questions. 1. We will have access to pontoon and will be on the Devils Fork end? Any suggestions for fishing or trolling? 2. Any creek wade fishing on that end of the lake. Thanks, MIC
  22. Nice report thanks.
  23. Nice... thanks for the report.
  24. That is awesome... My wife would love that.
  25. Old Plug... you interested in this? I need to start breaking it up if not.
