  1. Thanks for the report...a little jealous though because I still don't have a browning.

    We're Here!

    Doesn't count without pics.
  3. What the hell going on in Newburg... You all must be getting some serious rain. Good luck
  4. Thanks all.... I'll have to give that a try.
  5. 1. I don't want to get you in more hot water with NoLuck, but do you have a recipe for Primrose and pearl? 2. On the BHPT, do you mean as a dropper or as a primary? 3. Love the Brit's...great pic. Want to take me hunting?
  6. I'm getting ready for my annual trip to Bennett with my dad at the end of the month. I'm tying up a batch of simple thread midges for droppers. What is your favorite/best color and size? I've got thread in cream, black, gray, and olive/green. P.S. I'm pretty sure I'm in the first building on the left above the spring, but the cabin on the right. If you are there the week after Memorial Day, swing by, look for a gray Civic, say hi, and have a beer. I'll be there Monday through Friday. Can't wait.
  7. Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Missouri From: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/05/pictures/110517-american-river-dam-mississippi-natural-gas/#/most-threatened-rivers-ozarks-riverways_35623_600x450.jpg The famously beautiful Ozark National Scenic Riverways could crash under the weight of their own popularity, says American Rivers in its annual list. Together, the riverways host more than 1.3 million visitors a year. In the past 30 years, 13 developed river access points and public campgrounds have expanded to more than 130, connected by mazes of unmanaged dirt roads that bleed suffocating sediment into the river, according to American Rivers. The National Park Service expects to issue a draft management plan this year
  8. Here is a shirt for you all from Big Dog...
  9. Brian, Do you happen to know if these bugs exist at Bennett also? If they do, I thought broken water in blue pipe hole and below the rock darn in zone 1 might be a good place to try them out. I'm there for a week at the end of the month.
  10. I was trying to simulate legs with the dubbing. I think I'll go back to crazy legs.
  11. Here is my try at my own recipe. This one is about the six or seventh try. Not bad for rookie. I don't like the tail and antenna. I tried biot but didn't like it. I think feather craft has colored pheasant tail. If they have yellow, I'm going to give that a try. Please feel free to make suggestions.
  12. Awesome report and pics. Thanks.
  13. Yea that spot where my daughter and I are kneeling is normally six inches or so above the water line.
  14. Has anyone tried Rio's Nymph Shock?
  15. Your just wrong....very funny, but wrong.
  16. Here is some nice pics my wife took.
  17. I like looking at it when its running.
  18. Can't speak to the fishing, but here is the water levels for Jerome. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/mo/nwis/uv/?site_no=06933500&PARAmeter_cd=00065,63160,00060
  19. If you have tied a Montana Stone Fly before, can you please go to the "Bsc Fishing Report 5-8-11" thread on wild creeks forum and explain how to wind ostrich herl and hackle together. Thanks In Advance.
  20. I just figured that out. It was the three plates and two tail. For anyone interested..."the book" (Handbook of Hatches) recommends the Golden Montana Stone fly. Hook: 3x Long 6-12 (the sample was most likely a twelve Weight: Lead Wrap Thread: Black or Brown Tails: Light Turkey Biots Rib: Gold Lace (optional) Body: Yellowish brown dubbing Gills: One or Two light gray ostrich herl fibers tied with the hackle Hackel: Two turns of one brown and one grizzly hen or soft hackle (wound together) I've never tied this fly so can someone expand on "ostrich herl wound with hackle". Never seen it before.
  21. Added the pics. Can't fix the size at work, will do later.
  22. Can't beat that for Mother's Day.
  23. You got to love the wife when she recommended that we go down to BSC on Mother's Day. So I packed up the family and headed down. The creek was up and slightly off colored. One of the good holes (first one upstream of the "double L") will be tough to fish as a very large tree (foot, foot and half across) fell across it. Good for the fish though. It will provide some nice cover. I didn't get to fish the creek hard because my nine year old was "so so bored". I did bring three Blue Spring specials to hand...one on a green and partridge, one on a black woolly, and one on a bead head crackleback. I had two misses from some decent size fish that flashed in the off colored water. I did get some good insect samples from below the waterfall hole. One was a free living cream caddis pupae w/brown head that was huge...a size ten maybe an eight. I've been fishing 14 and 16s. I'll have to tie some larger sizes and give them a try (it will also allow for some lead to help get them down in the high water). The other sample was a nymph (crawler or clinger don't know), but it was much lighter in color then I expected...cream with brown marking on top. So to match the hatch go with a hare's ear's of lighter color or a tan died pheasant tail. I'll try to post a pic once my wife downloads her camera. The third was a scud, caught them by the ton....dark grey and go small 16, 18, or even a 20 as a dropper might work. No hatch that I could see. Good Luck and Good Fishing Mic
  24. Phil, Going to piggyback on this one and the one from the vacationer. When I come in for a vacation and ask what flies are hot...it would be cool to have a "recipe card" for your hot flies and the supplies to make them. That way I can walk out it a couple flies, the card, and the supplies that I need. That would help out your customers who like to tie and fish. If I were to offer a comment on your current inventory...it was hard to find specific flies from the markings on the outside of your cases. Wasn't a big deal because your staff was very helpful, but if the store is busy, it would be nice to be able to figure it out on my own. The drawers are soon thin, but big I'm not sure how you could do it...maybe a simple catalog in a three ring binder with the case and self number. Can't wait to see you in October.
