  1. I was wondering if the Conservation Department ever makes any stream improvements to the Blue Ribbon Creeks. For example, there are a lot of empty holes that could use some bank covers on Blue Spring Creeks and some sections could really use some rip rap. I was fishing the first hole below Hwy N on BSC on Friday and could hear the dirt falling from the bank into the creek.
  2. Posted on another shred titled 1-28
  3. I was down today and looked for you glove. No luck. I also think the cutoff for the public/private land is the hole with the double falls.
  4. I made the trip down from STL today. I fished the upper section. Fishing was just OK and the fish seem to spook more then normal. Brought a five incher to hand in the hole right below Hwy N...a good fish from such a small hole. I lost two really good ones...one brook my line. I also shot a three incher over my shoulder so I don't know if counts as "to hand". Forgot to add, there was a hatch yesterday. A very small white fly with dark colored body. If you want to match the hatch, take some small trico (I think that is what there called) flies with you.
  5. Same here...do you have a link?
  6. Just learning about the Craclebacks...did you catch them on the CBs dry, wet, or both?
  7. I think you forgot the number one threat "for trout"...illegal harvesting. When you say live bait, I assume you mean minnows. I catch and release with worms all the time. I do great high sticking trout with worms (were legal). Since I'm feeling for the bite, I almost always get hook sets in the corner of the mouth. In the rare occasions were I don't, I just cut the hook lose or keep that for lunch.
  8. Your not helping my trout fever. Thanks for the report.
  9. I'm thinking about purchasing one of Mark's RDP Rods in a three weight. If you own one, I would like to hear your "pro's and con's". Please let us all know or send me a PM. I've narrowed down my choices between the RDP and the Redington "CT". Mark, no cheating now...
  10. All, I'm trying to decide on a reel for my (not yet bought) three weight rod. Does anyone have both the Ross Flywater and the Battenkill Bar Stock reels. If yes, which one do you prefer. If no, I would still like your two cents. Thanks In Advance
  11. Gary, I'm stuck at work thinking about fishing...you sure aren't helping things. Great PICs. Where do we sign up for your boat in 2011.
  12. Please send back a report from your first trip to the water and let know what we are missing.
  13. Does anyone have a good way to weight a san juan worm when tying it?
  14. Last time I fished Blue Springs I had the chance to talk to a regular. He offered some words of wisdom (at least it sounded good). The first, was the trout move upstream in December (which I found to be true) and move back downstream in the spring. The questions I should have asked are...when exactly do they move back down stream and does the fishing above Highway N stay good? The second advice he gave was to look at the Maramec levels, because he found when output gets above a certain point, the fishing on the stream gets better. So question to you all is have you found this to be true. If yes, which reading station do I reference and what out put is "high". Thanks In Advance, Good Fishing
  15. Hate to lose that one in a tree. Might have to cut the tree down to retrieve it.
  16. I hope to go out for my first winter trip with fly rods and waders. The question I have is with waders on...how should I dress for 38-40 degree days. I went out in 48-50 degree weather overdressed for the waders and the walk up Blue Springs and was sweating all day. Any suggestions/thoughts.
  17. Not sure what direction your coming from, but if from the East...you can make a stop at Little Piney or Blue Springs Creek on you way down or back.
  18. I sent you a private message with a question and contact information. Thanks In Advance.
  19. I'm a once a year Bennett guy, but I thought they didn't release fish in the winter?
  20. I use both...in the parks and rivers, I use a 7 foot UL rods. I find it really helps with casting and landing fish. On the small spring creeks, I use a 4.5 rod. I feel it helps me keep the casts low in the heavy overhang.
  21. My eight year old daughter loves to practice with my fly rod in the back yard. I'm looking for an old, but loved rod and reel that someone can let go for little to nothing. I'm also into wood working so I can trade for a piece. I specialize in military pieces..flag boxes, challenge coin holders, etc, but can do boxes, shelves, etc. Thanks In Advance.
  22. You have my vote.
  23. Thats a great looking fly...what did you name it?
