My son recently ask me, " What can I get you for Christmas Dad?" Well heck I don't know. Then it dawned on me. I'm not the kind of guy to spend $30 on a fishing lure, why not a Mega Bass for Christmas? I've heard a lot about the Mega Bass stick bait on Table Rock. I looked on-line but I couldn't figure out which one I would want to use on TR. So I'm turning to Ozark Anglers for a little help. Which one of the Mega Bass stick-baits would I want as a Christmas gift from my son. Thanks for your help.

When Fishing/hiking, Do You Carry A Handgun?
drs7558 replied to rfd515's topic in General Angling Discussion
I guess I just can't leave this alone. Some of you guys are really out of touch. Wrench/Jack I can't believe some of the crap you've said, "criminals are statistically more targeted in who they kill". Tell me your just like wrench, "I'm just talkin". -
When Fishing/hiking, Do You Carry A Handgun?
drs7558 replied to rfd515's topic in General Angling Discussion
Yes. I'm retired law enforcement, and I'm strapped just about everywhere I go. Even the supermarket. There are lots of BAD people out there, and your liable to run into them at any time. On the river, on the lake, in the woods. Be prepared. I could tell you lots of personel stories, but I won't. I carry a Kimber .45cal. And there is always the Chief Special in the truck. Anyone who thinks "it couldn't happen to me", is a fool. Its not a matter of seeing a bad guy behind every tree. But believe me there out there. I'd rather be prepared if the situation gets out of hand. It happens every day, all over the Country. Be prepared to protect yourself and your loved ones. This might sound very bold but I'll say it anyway,,,,If I had been in that theater in Colorado, I don't think that crazy bastard could have shot so many people. -

F&F your pics of cardinals are awsome. I would consider myself a lucky man if I was able to have my morning coffee next to their nest. Great shots.

Been to RMNP several times. Beautiful, awsome, outstanding. If you want to see wildlife, thats to place to go. Got married at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. Great trip. Got a wonderful wife, unbelieveable memories. Drove out there in brand new '04 GMC Seirra pick-up. My first view of Thompson Canyon was unforgettable. The drive up the Canyon was worth the hole trip. Not forgetting my beautiful bride. First trip up Trail Ridge Road, truck got struck by lightning, with us in it. Thats a whole other story. We survivied, truck didn't. Your photos were great, hope to take some ,as good, when we go back there this august.

Something about that "Shooting the elk" story, just isn't right. Bring elk back to the state, then shoot them if they roam a little. Its not right. I lost any faith I had in the MDC, if I ever had any.

Well we had our visit to Crystal Bridges Musuem, in Bentonville Ark.. I don't give fishing reports on this site because I very seldom have anything positive to report. Our trip to the Museum was very positive, so here's a report. Crystal Bridges Museum is sponsered by Walmart. It is an art museum, featuring American Art. Alice Walton (Walmart) created the museum. Most of the pieces in the museum are donated by her, including other private donations. The contemporary, modernistic, expressionism part of the museum did not interest me very much. Although it did include a great piece by Norman Rockwell, "Rosie the Riveter". Rosie was unbelieveable. I didn't care for Andy Warhol's "Dolly Parton",(it did not feature her best assets), or most of the other stuff in that section. The Colonial and 19th Century section was more of a realist style of art, more to my taste. It was outstanding. Anyone having the slightest interest in Great American Art, should see this museum. It was well worth the drive and the price was right, free. Crystal Bridges Museum is a great gift to the American Public, by Alice Walton. If you can, you should see it.

I hope its OK to ask this on this site. But, someone else asked about "what to do in the Branson area". So I'll ask. Has anyone been to the Crystal Bridges Museum? If so what did you think about it? I think its about 1 3/4 hr. drive from Kimberling City. Planning on going this week-end. What do you think?

started done the lonely trail towards Fort Crepe. Everyone knows that the trail to Fort Crepe is a long and dangerous trail. Anything could happen on this trip. Hiawatha only hopes that he can arrive at Fort Crepe, on the banks of beautiful Table Rock Lake, before the rod breaking, Water in His Moccasins does. Hiawatha has been waiting for the chance to see the lovely Pamala without Water in His Moccasins being around, because he wants to.........

I love mountain lion stories. Theres not a doudt in my mind that they have been in Missouri, for many years, not just the last few years. I saw one thirty-five years ago around Table Rock Lake. But thats another story. Heres a current mountain lion story for you. I recently returned from a vacation trip with my wife, in Palm Beach Florida. It was a great trip. While there we visited a wild life sanctuary several miles inland. It was privitaly owned but due to cost increases to feed the animals, the owner started providing guided tours to the public for a fee. It was a great experience, many big cats on the tour. African lions, tigers, leopards and of course mountain lions. The cats were housed in very large cages, made of 4x4's and heavy cyclone fenceing. There was a covering on top of the cages, depending on if the cats could climb or not. Visiters could approach within 2 feet of the cages, very close. Everyone kept thier distances from the cats due to them tending to try to "mark" visiters. Our guide said "its just like your everyday house cats mark its territory at home". BS the cats were just trying to piss on humans. We got to the last cage, the mountain lion cage. There was a male and female in the cage, half way across the cage, to far away to piss on me. Being interested in mountain lions, I approached very close to get a better look at the big cat that I so admire. The male cat stared intintly at me. It felt as if he was starring directly into my eyes. I stared directly back, into his eyes. Suddenly the big male(about 150lbs) charged at me, screaming, hissing, and clawing, bouncing off the fence. He continued this very agressive behavior until I walked away from the cage at the insistance of the guide. The guide explained this agressive behavior. "He was protecting his lady, their in love". Ya, what ever. All I know is none of the other cats acted like this, they were all just curious and wanted to piss on you. That male mountain lion would have ate me up, if that fence wasn't there. I would love to see another mountain lion in the wild, but I hope I'm well armed if I do.
