  1. That cartoon is the closest a Tiger has come to hurtin' a Jayhawk lately!
  2. Still missing!
  3. Guys Thanks much for input. I've passed it on to the guys. A little disapointed but I'm sure that they'll still have a great time. Much too pretty down there to be too upset plus the weekend weather is supposed to be spectacular. Thanks again
  4. I have a couple of good friends heading down tomorrow to fish above the spring for smallies thru Sunday. Was hoping someone might be able to provide a little information about the water level and conditions after the recent rains. Thanks for any input you might be able to provide!
  5. How about the docks in the Kimberling area? Anybody know anything about the condition of the Inn's and What's Up Doc? Overall, doesn't seem to be quite as bad as the one that hit LOZ a short while back but that sure doesn't do those affected by this one much good. Good luck to the Campbell Point folks and their customers - that's always been a great place to stop for fuel and supplies - nice people and excellent service.
  6. Guys Thanks so much for the replies. CMAC, parking won't be an issue as we'll put the boat in the slip and then go drop off the trailer. Our unit is lake front and near the ramp so we won't need a place to park the truck either. Whackem', thanks for the additional fising info - god, I hope you're right. After reading all of the posts for the past couple of weeks, I'm so anixious to get there that I'm about to pop! I've printed off about twenty pages of stuff in case I get amnesia and can't remember it all! Hopefully, we can get there before 300 and get out of everybody's way. We'll be in a red and gold striped white 520 so if you see us give a yell! Thanks again for the help and all of the great stuff that y'all provide here. Vernon
  7. Guys My brother and I will be arriving mid afternoon this Saturday for our annual spring extravaganza to TR and will be staying in a condo at the Kimberling Inn. With water and ramp conditions being what they are, I was curious as to what we might expect at that time of day launching by Ahoy's. I'm figuring that there will be some of the usual tournament action taking place and wondered if we would even be able to get the boat in the water or if we would be better off waiting until later in the day or. After reading all of the posts for the last few weeks, I can't wait to get there but also don't want to start off the trip by getting into a cluster at the ramp. We're renting a slip for the week so once we're in, that's it. Any feedback or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks as always for all of the great advice found here and we look forward to seeing all of you there!
  8. Just came back today after seven days on the water at LOZ (down by the dam) and caught a whopping fourteen crappie - none after Tuesday - although I had to have set some kind of record for drum - at least fifty of em' crappie fishing and a bunch over five pounds. Small tube jigs and Road Runners drove the drum crazy but I couldn't catch a crappie to save my life. A couple of buddies came in on Thursday and caught nine or ten each in about four hours in the late afternoon to evening but virtually blanked on Friday. Except for the drum, at least the largemouth were cooperative on spinnerbaits. I love bass fishing but this is the trip that I actually look forward to just to catch a bunch of crappie. Worst spring trip for crappie that I've had there in ten years. Honestly, I think that next week will get pretty good. Just need some sun and warmer temps. But what do I know - four in a week does not constitute an expert!
  9. Not positive, but I think King's Cove Resort is in Aunt's Creek?
  10. I'm lovin' that Jayhawk hat! My brother and I are heading down next Friday for eight days and it's good to see that there will be at least a couple of "friendlies" amoungst all those Mizzou folks. The pictures and reports for the last few weeks are enough to give me heart palpitations. Of course, knowin' our luck, one more week will probably be the end of it for the spring! Save us a place!
  11. I must be the luckiest guy alive. As crazy as this might sound I have been leaving my stuff out in the open on my boat in resort boat stalls for nearly 30 years at LOZ, Table Rock, Bull Shoals, Kentucky Lake, Dale Hollow, Greers Ferry, you name it and have never lost a thing. My stuff ain't junk and I'm always in a less than 5 year old Ranger (currently a 2004 520). There is always at least 5 baitcasters and 3 spinning outfits on the front deck and whatever my wife, brother or whoever I'm fishing with are using on the back. My tackle bag sits on the floor and I've never removed my trolling motor, GPS or depth finders. After reading what was said above about leaving your rod boxes standing open and empty, I'm kind of wonderin' if my good fortune is due to thieves thinking it's too good to be true and must be a setup! Regardless, I refuse to take the time and go thru the hassle of hauling all of that crap to and from the boat dock and room twice a day. I guess that's why I pay extra for total replacement insurance just in case. I'm very happy to hear that there are efforts being made to put a stop to this stuff nonetheless.
  12. Bill Thanks ever so much for the speedy and detailed response to my questions regarding electronics. I could hardly believe how easy you made it sound by the simple way that you described the adjustments. Judging by the other replies, it seems I'm not alone in starving for information about this type of fishing. All of the other input is most interesting as well. Thanks again for your unselfish assistance and efforts to ensure that myself and others can have a more successful and pleasurable experience. If you're sure you don't mind, I might take you up on your offer to give you a call next week if I have other questions or maybe just to let you know how it's going. I can't wait to get started with the new advice - you and this site are the greatest!
  13. Bill Thanks to you and the guys for all of the great information provided on this site. My brother and I were down in Kimberling the third week in May and really did well utilizing the tips that we gathered on this site. More big smallmouth (6 over 4 pounds) than ever before, 3 blacks over 5 and a BUNCH of really nice others. A truly memorable spring trip. My wife and I are headed back down (Shell Knob this time) on Wednesday the 14th to fish thru Sunday the 18th. Was glad to hear you say that the whites were cooperating as she really loves to catch those things (like I don't!). While I've had some success on the Kentuckies drop shotting now thru fall, I've never come close to mastering the electronics the way you guys describe. I've got a Garmin 178C on the console and a 250C on the bow. In your opinion, are these units sufficient for the type of structure fishing that you guys are doing? If so, I must not be getting them adjusted properly as I've never been able to see a fish approach my bait (that's on the rare occasions that I can actually see the bait). I'm determined to become more proficient at this type of fishing and would greatly appreciate any input that you or any of the other subject matter experts might be able to provide. I know it's probably difficult to describe what you're doing or how to best utilize electronics in writing but I'm wide open and appreciative of any advice. Again, thanks to you and all the others that contribute to this site. I only can get to Table Rock 4 or 5 times a year but I check this site everyday - guess I'm living vicariously thru y'all! Can't wait till next week. Thanks again.
