looking at swimbaits coupe of days ago one was priced $179.00. if I'm fishing with something that expensive I'm going to have scuba gear in boat.

Flourocarbon Knots, What Works Best For You?
inshore replied to Moswimb8slinger's topic in Table Rock Lake
istarted using vanish when I first tried fluro line. it sucked would nick knots wouldn't hold. mostly use braid now with fluro leaders. always tie with a uni-knot. for fluro leader I use fluro trout leaders. they are usually smaller diameter and are a lot tougher than fluro line. -
friend who lives near the lake told me that a shad die off was going on. anyone else noticed this?

here we go. if you want to see fish out to the sides you would need a side image unit. all other units simply look down with sonar or down image. on my trolling motor I have a 597 hb color unit. you can get this type of unit in the six hundred range maybe a little less. two things you need to add is a lake chart probably navionic or lakemaster. also a list of all brush piles mdc has placed in the lake. you can download this from their website or I think marine repair will scan in for you on a disk. I would recommend color because it is easier to determine what you are seeing. if you need help in learning the unit go to bass boat central and look at the forum hb what you are seeing.

march 1991 slow rolling 1oz white spinnerbait. had 4 bites caught all 4 total weight 32 pounds and 7 oz. onle bites I had. caught one in little fisher creek one in next cove north one off the point at whites branch and one in whites branch. as far as bass never had a day like it before or since.

found some nice hair jigs at overton's made by northlands. going to try them as weights on drop shot rigs. I'm thinking it should work will let you know if it does.

O son its a giant along with Bill Dance and Denny B. I like these guys because they caught them before all the modern equipment came along.

anyone know if the ice is thick enough to drive on yet. to lazy to carry the auger.
-
If anyone went I hope he had the best fishing day he ever had. we will probably find him dead from hypothermia frozen to his steering wheel.

not worth the money. some bells and whistles same map. send the money you save to old plugs retirement fund. you will love the new machines if you study and learn to use them.

bill thanks for the advice. I did find a ton of shad in 60 to 70 feet of water in cedar hollow usually do really well in that area but found no fish in or around the shad. did check out to 70 to 80 feet at point 10 found one school of shad again no bass. did notice when we went out that it looked like a guide and 2 fishermen were on that point. I know you been at this many years but unless I find birds I don't seem to find many fish on the shad. again thanks for your help.

Current Fishing Report Shell Knob Table Rock Lake 12-27-13
inshore replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
if the sequence of pictures are in order the fish attacked while the shad were on the bottom and pushed them toward the surface. I've seen this happen in salt water many times. that's what the gulls and eagles are hoping for. -
years ago on tr there was a lot of standing timber. as the lake has aged a bunch of this timber that was out of the water has simply decayed and is now gone. much of the timber that is covered by water is still standing but is deeper. therefore if you like to fish timber get a good finder and fish deeper. boat docks and mdc cover trees and rock piles are main structure areas and if you are not fishing them you are fishing barren banks.

all I can say is get the best you can afford. I run a hb 998 at the wheel and hb 597 on the front. the 998 I use to locate fish and structure mostly for deep fishing. I use a good map (navionics) and have a sd card with all the brush piles and other structure on it. whatever you get learn to use it. the new units are great but takes time and practice to get the most out of them.if you don't deep fish go with a good unit on the front.

need some help finding 3/8 and1/4 hair jigs. thought I might use them as weight on drop shot. thanks for any advice.

How Much Time Do You Spend Scanning For Fish?
inshore replied to abkeenan's topic in Table Rock Lake
you can under do or over do anything. I find people that have the good machines and (key) understand how to make them work for them will use them more than the people who don't. as for my self if I'm looking for deep fish if I don't see them on my hb I don't fish. if I'm fishing bank to 10 feet all I use is depth. if I'm fishing brush pile I will look but remember it is hard to see fish dead on the bottom so I may fish even when I don't see fish. like the old saying goes use it or lose it. -
located some deep fish at 30 feet caught 10 to 12 on 1/2 oz war eagle spoon. three keeps one spot two nice sm about 18 inches. lost one or two that might have kept. after that tried cranking, jerking and jigging no luck. hit a bluff and fished 1/16 oz texas rigged French fry. caught another 10 to 12 with only one spot that would have kept.mix of spots and sm. sitting in 20 to 30 throwing to 10 to 15 most hit on drop. overall weather was great light wind and warm. better then whats coming for the weekend.

go to bass boat central click on bbc boards. the first board has everything that doug has ever posted on using and understanding what you are seeing. also pics captured by other people using hb. I review this about every 90 days to check for new info. also be sure to register on hb website. as they make changes and upgrades they put on this website and you can download to sd card and update your unit. just be sure before you download you restore factory defauts

quill been thinking about trying this out. wonder what mr. babler has to say and think about this style fishing. from what I can find out it is mostly about looking for suspended fish. seems like a lot of table rock suspend pretty deep. target fish are mostly spots and smalljaws. seems like good electronics are a key. also most of what I read you need water below 50 degrees. lots of flies and bobbers are on the market. finding the right ones for table rock might be tough. anyone have any suggestions?
