  1. Yeah I was tickled to death. Had one just over 5 1/2 that helped the average quite a bit though. I will 2nd what Bo has said on the deep shad deal. After that initial flurry, for which I never really saw a big ball of shad during, most of the shad I saw where from 50-70 feet deep. I could find fish swimming around in the area the bait was in, but the fish were not right in the bait, mainly swimming from 50 foot up to 20 and then back down to 50. I know they were KY's because I caught one of the on a grub, had one other bite on the fish doing that up/down deal, but that was it. If it all lines up you'll catchem quick, but my experience had me scratching my head the rest of the day.
  2. I was in the area last weekend and had some sucess, caught fish in as shallow as 20 feet out to about 40 on the bottom on a spoon; . I got on a school of fish, caught 10 or so fish with 5 keepers in the 15 pound range and then it was dead as a hammer. Tried to get on them the rest of the day and I could see fish and catch an extremely occasional short fish, but it was done. If I had missed that school feeding by 15 minutes first thing in the morning, I believe I could have been skunked. Terrific Bite/Extremely spotty and timing can't be overstated.
  3. Would you ship it? If so how much would you need to ship it to Harrison, AR? Would you take paypal?
  4. Good job Phil, What did it take to draw a check?
  5. My guess is more than one barricade is going to become fish cover if this carries on to long. If you wanna p me off just go and mess with my hunting or my fishing. The stupidity of barricading a ramp is mind numbing. That is the COE for you though. As far as the flood, this is why the Corp should drop the lake a little in the winter. Spring rains are inevitable, there is no reason to be sitting at power pool at the beging of February. The Corp won't let you drive down in the park just to take a look on Table Rock without paying them $5. Had that happen to me at Moonshine Beach and at Mill Creek this year. At Mill Creek I just wanted to drop off flyers to the guys fishing the Friday Nighter, I couldn't drive, walk, or swim to them without the $5 because I had my boat pass in my other vehicle. I had to pull over and sit for 5 minutes to calm down before I gave the Ranger my $5 to enter the park I've paid for with taxes, and the day use pass I had in my other vehicle. The Corp seems to think they own the water and the land around it, and has fogotten we hired them to maintain and help us enjoy our waterways. At Diamond City, the Corp just put in some huge rocks on the sides of the ramps. If you get off the ramp marginally you are going to tear some crap up on your boat or trailer. Completely senseless. A small trail down to your boat dock could cost you several thousand dollars. I understand regulating clearing a hillside to get a lakeview from the top of the will, but trimming some bushes to make a trail....... Please. The COE also caters to the boat docks in an unreasonable manner in my opinion. At Diamond City, the boat dock owner had a seperate, privately owned fish cleaning station shut down. The remains, that are at least 50 yards from the dock and in the water were a problem for the boat owners, and the Corp shut down the cleaning station. I can't fish within 50 feet of the dock, which gripes me to no end, and now I can't clean a fish over 50 yards from the dock. At Moonshine Beach, we had an event scheduled just 2 weeks ago, scheduled since June, the Corp had the nerve to call the day before the event to tell us we would not be allowed to use the area. Needless to say I was going to use the area regardless, but after 5 phone calls the OK was received. Pretty standard stuff for dealing with the Corp in my book though. Just like all things government controled, the COE does a poor job of managing our area lakes, and the access to them.
  6. Don't confuse dairy point with second dairy point or you'll be sorely disappointed.
  7. What a day. We had 27 boats but we'll grow. Nobody walked away empty handed. I'll post a list of prizes and full results soon. 1st place - Roger Hackman and James Hensley - 13.14 pounds - $400 Payout from entry fees was 74% instead of the advertised 50%, and we had the best prizes of any tournament I've ever been a part of; will post the exacts very soon. I had the chance to fish with two Olympians and one had their personal beat day, with 10 fish. It was my pleasure to get to do that. If you didn't fish, it was truly your loss. Hope to see you next year,
  8. Hey buddy, sent you a pm.
  9. We will have some bags available, but you can use your own bags. I am going to ask that people be mindful of the size of the line at the tanks. I have two stock tanks lined up, but if the weighin line is exceedingly long, I do ask that we try to work together to keep our fish alive. If you have to sit with the fish in your livewell for just a little extra time to let the line subside I ask that you do that. As we figure out the exact size of the event we will see how much of a role this will play.
  10. Yes sir there is a courtesty dock at Moonshine Beach. Also, when it comes time to weigh in I am very aware that Moonshine Beach has a lack of good places to beach a boat. Trailering your boat at Moonshine Beach will be allowed to weigh-in. On the rule concerning trailering your boat, we are really just concerned with folks trying to trailer their boat to or from another fishing location. Say fishing at Cape Fair and then trailering your boat back to Moonshine Beach to weigh in. That would be unacceptable. Also, the late fee has been waived. There will be no late fee collection, only tournament entry fee of $50. Pass this word along.
  11. Looks like a pretty good schedule to me. Watching them break down The Rock will be a treat.
  12. I am tickled to hear that you are coming. I hope we are able to send you home with some goodies, and some good memories. I am pretty sure there is going to be opportunity for everyone that is willing to help with the Special Olympics fishing derby portion of this event; we are really just not sure on the size of the event at this point, LOL. I guess we'll find out soon enough. I know another fishing event for the Special Olympians was held about 2 weeks ago, so this may cut down some on our Olympian attendance some, this truly is a test run/learning experience for us. I do plan on taking some of the Olympians out in my boat for a short venture within the takeoff cove. Going to shoot for like 20-30 minutes in the boat and if a fish is caught then great, if not a little putting around in the boat will be a memorable occasion for most of them. At very least we will be there for a great cause! Thanks to everyone that plans on attending and all those who have donated to the cause.
  13. We are getting some entries, and a lot of people have expressed they are planning on fishing, but not as many entries (with the entry fee) as I would like to see. The word has been put out well though through several local tournaments and bass clubs, web sites, bait stores, The Fishing Radio Show, etc. and I feel like a lot of folks are waiting until the last minute or are planning on signing up at the ramp. If someone wanted to get an early boat draw they still could at this point; and the prizes are really great. Just got a Falcon rod and Pflueger reel (both like $200 values) to give away and will be purchasing more great stuff this week thanks to a substantial cash donation from a couple of sponsors. The flyer states 50% payback, but if feasible (depending on # of entries vs. fixed costs) this payout will be higher. We want to raise as much money as possible for the Special Olympics, but we want this event to be very good for the fishermen involved. We want it to grow. T-shirts for the event will be given to the fisherman as well as a free lunch. Come give it a shot, and I think you'll want to come back.
  14. Just got some exciting news from BasCat Boats. This tournament will be Quest Sanctioned which will mean additional Cash to the winner (up to $1,000) if they are BassCat owners and part of the Quest program. We have received more prizes and I believe this event is going to be well worth your time as a fisherman as well as a great way to donate your time to help someone in the Special Olympics. Only a little over a week away now. Please help me spread the word and come join us for a great time September 21 at Moonshine Beach.
  15. Update on some of the prizes that will be given to fishermen by drawing and as prizes - Custom Falcon Cara Rod made in memory of Chicken Hodge, additional brand name rods and reels, Jewel Jigs, Pradco lures, Gift certificates to several local resturaunts and business, and we are still receiving donations. We have received a donation of substantial amount to purchase more prizes for this tournament and are currently reviewing our options. All of this in addition to substantial pledges for the Special Olympics from over 30 area individuals and businesses. Donations from business or individual are being accepted and greatly appreciated. The event is coming together to be a great event and day. Would love to have you come fish with us and support this great cause, and a chance at some really nice prizes.
  16. Everyone please take a look at the fishing tournament being put on by the Harrison Board of Realtors at Moonshine Beach on Table Rock Lake - September 21, 2013. This is a benifit tournament for the Special Olympics, and is also in memory of my Grandfather Charles "Chicken" Hodge. We have been working on getting some great prizes lined up, Free Lunch, drawings, T-shirts, and much more. The tournament is 50% payback with 1 place being paid for every 10 entires. All proceeds going to the Special Olympics. The tournament portion of the event is from 7AM till noon. There will be a gathering for the weigh-in and lunch at Moonshine Beach. Then at 1:30 all able bodies willing to help are going to help a special olympian do some fishing. We are working with an area agency on setting this portion up. Some Olympians will be able to participate from boats while others will be on the bank, so any help from any angle is appreciated. Also, if you would like to be a sponsor there are endless opportunties. Please feel free to contact me or the Harrison Board of realtors for any questions. Registration and sponsorship form can be found on the right side of the page below. http://harrisonbor.com/ Tournament Flyer.pdf 797.5K 0 downloads Thanks Aaron Hodge 870-704-9288

  19. Run a 225 Opti. The cheapest I can go is $45.00. And that is running on fumes in the truck and really limiting my running in the boat. Gosh it is easy to spend $100 if I go out there and try to fish where I want to fish, when I want to fish.
  20. I know them both. Gary Bundy is an amazing bed fisherman. People do not like him because for lack if better words he is a darn good fisherman. I do not k ow him extremely well but he has been winning for a long time and never once has anything ever concrete came up about him cheating. I remember the first day Bull Shoals went from a 10 fish limit to a 6 fish limit. Fished against and beat him with my Grandfather in the Yukon Jack Tournament. He fished by himself and came in second. We were fishing the same water and no cheating was involved. I don't k ow him the best but I do not believe him to be a cheater. I know John Hagood much better and the guy is an honest good fella. He does extremely well sometimes, and other days he sucks just like you and I. The guy ain't a cheater and I would welcome him in my boat anytime. Take it for what it is worth but I believe Bundy to be the beat bed fisherman in the area. He know Beaver extremely well and is hard to beat around the spawn. If anyone would know the area 22lbs of largemouth would be this time of year on Beaver it would be him. If they pass the poly leave them the heck alone unless you saw the cheating with your own eyes. If you win enough, you are declared a cheater. It's just how it works.
  21. Fins, You say you wouldn't want them in the Rock, but then state they do not harm the fishery when it comes to Bull Shoals. This seems to be the common theme amoung a lot of people, ecspecially those from MO. No they don't hurt anything, no, no, no don't put them in Table Rock, put them in Bull Shoals. Not trying to badger you here, but it seems to be a double standard to me. T It frustrates me to no end that MO, which a very small portion of Bull Shoals is in, stocks stripers in an AR lake, but Table Rock, on the same chain that lies in MO is off limits from striper stock. Thank you MDC. I wish there was more I could do personally to convey my dissatisfaction to them in a meaningful way. By the way, I did finally hook into one of the monster stripers on Bull Shoals. It was a blast to reel in, but Bull being the red-headed step child is getting really old to me. Fins, thanks for all the informative information you have posted over the years. I do appreciate and respect your opinions.
  22. This year has definately been different from the past several. The bite has just started coming around a little for me. This winter and early spring were really pretty tough. I would think I was getting on to something and then it would go bust. Usually April is consistently good fishing. This year it was fairly good fishing, but it really has seemed to change drastically sometimes from day to day and definately week to week.
  23. I have fished Bull forever and have never caught or heard of one being caught. I have absolutely no doubt there are a few around, but why not the numbers??? You have to consider on a lake of that size with as many feeder creeks as there are, there are some in the lake. Bear Creek is a tributary I have personally caught rock bass in, but not at lake level, upstream. No doubt a few coming down into that area of the lake though. I would think Big Creek and Theodosia Creek would have to have a few around as well. It is weird that there are not more of them???? I caught a Hell Bender one time, know they are there. I've seen spoonbill pictures, I think even on this website. I caught a Buffalo (smallmouth Buffalo I believe) one time that I had no clue was in the lake. There is no telling what someone has caught out of there at some point though. Anybody else with some weird ones?
