  1. Never fished Busch for them. I caught one from Pomme, the rest have been from Hazel Creek. I like Hazel because I catch lots of bass and muskie while fishing for bass.
  2. I'm one of those crazies that fishes for muskie in Missouri the rare time I get a chance. I've got a lucky horseshoe hidden somewhere in the boat though. The last 5 days I've spent chasing muskie in Missouri, I've boated 9 of them up to 42". I completely understand the desire to target one particular species, even though they may not be prevalent.
  3. Even walleye think walleye taste good!
  4. Amazing how much fish can vary in just a couple inches, or how close they can be too I guess. A few years ago I was lucky enough to catch a 24" bass in January in Kansas that only had a 14.5" girth that weighed 7.51. Then 2 months later in March I caught a bass at the same lake that was only 22" long but had a 17" girth that weighed 7.76. I've seen DD fish in the strip pits in SE Kansas, and there was a guy that caught a DD prefishing a tournament several years ago in April (don't know his name, he was fishing the same BASS weekend series tournament as I was which is the only reason I heard about it). They're out there, but it takes a mountain of skill and luck to ever get to see one, let alone catch one.
  5. Flatheads will occasionally throw up everything they've eaten recently while you're fighting them. I had a little 20 pounder throw up a partially digested bass that was every bit of 4 pounds one time. Flats and big blues like the one in the video are predators and much more capable of catching live prey fish than a lot of folks give them credit for.
  6. Locktite gel (grey bottle/blue cap), is where it's at for gluing Neds.
  7. On a shakyhead with the flat side down.
  8. It's amazing to me that you have to take a test to operate a car but you can buy a boat the size of a tractor-trailer and they hand you the keys and tell you to have fun
  9. Awesome story man!
  10. So disappointed there's been no, "That's what she said", comments yet. It's amazing how you can have a fish die on you that appeared to suffer no major injury, then you see a fish missing part of it's dome and obviously doing okay.
  11. I have one of the Real Bluegills. It's not a bad bait, but it's not a particularly good one either. It's a lot cheaper than most hard gill baits though so for someone not wanting to drop serious coin on a higher end one it might be a good option.
  12. We really need to remove warning labels and stop warning people not to do dangerous stuff to let natural selection start sorting out some of the dumb people in this world. Every other animal, the ones that are dumb enough to wander away from the herd, or go investigate a strange noise or animal are the ones that are taken out of the breeding population. Humans are the only animals that protect the village idiots because they can't do it themselves. We're really starting to suffer the consequences of those actions these days too. Obviously not talking about children here, they don't know better, but if an adult wants to drive their speedboat through a stump filled river or take a stroll in a lightning storm, I'm not going to stop them.
  13. Blame the state for not allotting the funds to pay for enough GWs to patrol and catch more poachers. At full staff Kansas only has 71 GWs to patrol the entire state. Western Kansas has 3 to patrol an area that's bigger than RI, Mass, and Connecticut combined. Can't even begin to think those guys are going to be able to stop even a tiny percentage of poaching that goes on. Even then, it's not going to stop. We have a powerplant lake where the fish really concentrate in warm water discharge during the winter months and poaching is rampant, usually by netters or snaggers and they're largely illegals. Problem with that is, unless they're arrested, you can write them tickets for days but they don't exist in the system so they'll never pay them. Take their cheap thrownet or Walmart combo and they'll just go buy another one. Take them to jail and they'll just get bailed back out (very few are deported anymore due to policy changes by ICE). It's not just illegals either, plenty of lowlifes out there that could give a rip about game and fish restrictions that will keep or shoot whatever regardless of seasons or bag limits. It's a sad deal but having spoken with several GWs about the issue and most are hunters and fishermen like we are and are just as frustrated, if not more so, than we are.
  14. Also Berkley, the Cutter 110+ and Skinny Cutter 110+. Digging that Vintage Craw color. You're right though, doesn't really look much like a wart, not that it will stop me from buying some I'm sure.
  15. I'm hoping for something reasonably priced as well to fish around here where zebra mussels steal so many of my cranks that are meant to be ground through the rocks.
  16. This was on the big rat in Morning Dawn color last week at a very pressured small lake right by me.
  17. With the other thread about the Rock Star 55, anyone heard anything about this bait? Supposed to be another possible wart replacement/stand in. Haven't seen much in the way of color options available but if they're like their other new cranks then there's going to be a couple decent options.
  18. I have the big one, it fishes easily on flipping stick and 20lb copoly. I'm sure the smaller sizes will work well too.
  19. The other big difference is trout are often targeted with very light tackle. If that trout was caught on 2-6 pound test, like it most likely was, it was probably near exhaustion and maybe not possible to revive by the time it was landed. I believe that was the case with the 38 pound brown, just too gassed to make it. I'd rather see someone keep it and eat it or get it mounted than just leave it for the raccoons.
  20. I believe that list about as much as I believe the weatherman's report when he calls for nice weather on tournament day.
  21. Well, since Ned is from KS I guess it shouldn't be too surprising We caught a few dozen Kansas smallies and a couple whites on the Ned Monday.
  22. Ever tried a Suicide Glide?
  23. They do have a terrific swim to them though. If I can find one around $50 I'll have one. I could see the albino tearing up some smallies.
  24. I've done very well with a Ned rig after dark, including one of the biggest walleye I've ever caught.
