  1. Love swim jigs. Usually 1/2 oz with a 4"-5" grub or swim bait trailer.
  2. You are fortunate to live on the river and fish hard and often. Good for you! Glad you are having a stellar start to 2016.

Hot Fried Chicken & biscuits fail? Just a guess. Got a new laser instant read thermo, should make my fried chicken better and kids and dog are having fun with the red dot. New battery on my list.
  4. Just an amateur, but mostly a topwater fisher in the summer. Like the Accent b-2 buzz in half once with or without a curly tail trailer(similar colors as mentioned). Have a on of walking plugs. LC Gunfish 95 is probably my favorite, but they all work well at times. Carry a few in the 3-5" range and let the fish tell you. Flukes, glimmer blue, pink, or white. Nose hook with a circle hook, or a 4/0 EWG gamakatsu. Work it or dead drift it. The b-2 or fluke work great in heavy cover.
  5. Thinking Naples in June for Tarpon..then Ft. Meyers end of August for sure. August is not great fishing, but it's a great family trip. Last hoorah for the school teachers on that side of the family. Think I'll have someone haul my kayak down and fish more this year. Need a Surf rod too.
  6. An 8-10ld jack will wear you out on an 8wt. Fight harder than a tarpon twice the size.
  7. Sounds like a winner! Good for you. Nothing paddles better than a 15' solo canoe.
  8. Tough river to wade. It's mostly long slow deep water interspersed with short riffles even on the upper end. Get out the maps and be prepared to move from crossing to crossing until you find the fish.
  9. Dont have The KVD model. Accurists where on sale, and have performed well. Definetely lighter and smoother than a Plueger. Hope they last, but it's always a crap shoot with spinning reels. Some last, some don't. Baitcasters are more reliable.
  10. Picked up two accurists last December. Have been great so far but to soon to tell. Only 6-7 days with them so far. Pflueger Presidents are good for the money. Plastic frames though. Broke one when I stepped on it. Never a problem with the reels. Have tried them all. Shimanos bind bad after the get wet, never again. Abu's hold up pretty well. Last one was great for 4-5 years. Still good but wanted something new.

Not a big fan of the martini or gin if not well diluted. Will drink a Gin & Tonic in the summertime. Half glass full of ice cubes, add Hendricks gin until cubes float. Sqeeze a lime wedge into drink, wipe rim of glass with the lime and toss it in the drink. 2-5 dashes of Angostura bitters depending on size of drink or to taste. Fill glass with tonic. Extra lime if a tall glass.
  12. Daily limit is half of possession limit. You can have 1 daily limit on the beach, and one daily limit the boat. Not both in the boat.!
  13. Daily & Possesion limits apply to the individual not the boat. Keep your fish separate from the others and your fine.
  14. The Vagabond will take in water if you run it over a 2' drop. Think the Wenonah Wilderness would be a better solo choice.
  15. Good. Used to be a nice bluff hole there.
  16. Should have taken all that worthless concrete and the pit toilet out and replaced with nothing. Remember when that was a gravel road.
  17. Folks transporting bait between watersheds would be a likely cause.
  18. Sounds like fun! The Mucky Duck is OK, and the Bubbleroom is creepy. Save your money... and Doc Fords isn't very good IMO. Will have to try Dixie fish.
  19. Not my kayak, my wife has claimed it;)! She is out of town with kiddos. Guess the mov did not load. Just a waterfall vid anyway.
  20. Fun day! Headwater float on a well known river. Lots of wood to portage around, bit of snow, but the water was 50 degrees and caught a dozen or so. A couple nice, but no big deal. Sporty float, great scenery, fish caught. Fun day! IMG_2703.MOV

    What's Cooking?

Nice surprise yesterday evening. Dropped by Hargrove's after closing time to pick up/drop off some tax work and kill a brew. Was just in time for a sit down corned beef dinner in the dining room. Only fly shop in the world that has a dining room table.
  23. Hate to see this. Dont mind if a fellow keeps one for dinner, but no need to keep more than one. Copied his pic and distributed. More eyes on him the better. AT&T phones work down there, down to Cedar but gets spotty after that.
  24. Have never found one before March 20th in the St. Louis area...,and the few I have found in March are usually tiny...smaller than a dime.
